I like punk, I like rock, I loved The Revs. Irish bands have a habit of making you feel great with a few beers inside you and another in your hand, and these three boys achieved that with style on Saturday in the Carling tent!

The lead singer and bassist Rory Gallagher, how rock is that name, oozes Donegal charm and has a way with the crowd. It's as though it's your mate up there chatting to you. Talking of drinking, girls and other gigs. They've got charm, they've got style, they've got us all wrapped around Rory's little finger.

The Revs

The tunes a shockingly good, punk rock to dance to, songs with choruses you can sing along to. The crowd are chatting to each, smiling, happy, exuberant, Rory has a few jokes for us. They are funny. We all know we are in the best place to be. Young energy is poured in bucketloads from the stage, effortlessly and the humourous songs tickle us. I've been in many audiences, but this feeling I've not felt since the other Irish funsters the SAW Doctors. What is it with the Irish? They know what we want!

All to soon we reach the end, we've all been jumping throughout from the front barrier to the back of the crowd we have all had a ball. But Rory, Micheal and John have a treat in store as all three clamber onto the drummer 's podium to play Irish drum beats in unison, that marching beat builds and it really works the crowd join in. And as they smash the final breakneck beat as one, we cheer and lavish praise upon them. It's more than the bands they compare themselves to; The Who, The Police, Semi Sonic or Blink 182 it' s a new rev-olution!

Next year no doubt they'll be gracing the main stage. Go see them!
