Summer Sundae shares the same plot as the Big Session, at De Montfort Hall and also part of the neighbouring Victoria Park, so is in fact larger than the Big Session. The festival is run by Leicester City Council and offers a variety of popular, indie, alternative, rising stars, and local acts over three days in mid August.
It began in 2001 as a one day event with Morcheeba headlining, and grew until today it has six stages, four music stages, a comedy tent, and Phrased & Confused offering spoken word acts.
The festival has a mellow vibe and offers a slice of festival life in the heart of a city, with quality food outlets, real ales, good causes, stalls, and a relaxed crowd, there to enjoy the music.
