T in the Park 2000

Saturday 8th to Sunday 9th July 2000
Balado, Kinross, Scotland, Scotland MAP
around £64 (£4.50 booking), w/e with camping £75 (booking £4.50)

It's raining outside, and the chance to be in a warm dry tent is appealing... I'm surprised to find that despite the weather, there's still a lot of space in the tent.

The first five tracks are old favourites... Skye Edwards, acting as a glitterball in her spangly outfit, delivers each word with her normal perfection and chats to the crowd like an old friend, while the rest of the band concentrate on the music, Paul occasionally moving away from the decks to spin himself around like a disco queen.

With their third album "Fragments of Freedom" just released there's some new songs: 'Be yourself' seems destined to become a favourite, the crowd singing along... I can see fields full of people at future festivals making this their anthem. There were others too, showing that Morcheeba have progressed by not changed.

They finished with a cover of Donovans "Season of the Witch". When a band writes such strong and memorable songs, why do a cover? Before they've finished the first chorus you know....
