Sports Desk

And now, for the first of a weekly Friday Sifiblog feature, looking at some of the sporting news from the week and what we can look forward to in the week ahead. And because of the blanket coverage that the nation's mainstream sports receives, the Friday Sports Desk feature will look at some of the minority sports that are enjoyed up and down the country. After the success of the summer's world event held in, erm, France - it's time for the rigours of the new Leapfrog season. The reignin

Cesc Fabregas Is Not Over Rated

He's Class Hopefully we will sell Reyes to Madrid for a cash plus player deal, Baptiste or Robinho both being beter than Reyes in my eyes. And Ashley Cole can go get screwed, if he doesn't want to play for Arsenal I don't want him to play for Arsenal, he was out 99% of last season and we got to the CL Final.

Endorse It

Well forgot to unset the alarm so got wokened at 6.30am this morning, so much for the lie in today. The weather here is grim and I have to agree with William that when it's like this it sure dampens your festival spirits. But Metcheck now says some rain this morning (we aren't getting there til early afternoon so ground will be softer for tent pegs) Saturday temperatures hit 20 but there's a bit of mizzle in the morning (ah lie in weather) and a bit of rain Sunday night and then typical Monda

did it work?

Trying to do a picture - just copying others here these are just not a good idea are they - i hate being in photo's anyway - prefer not to be in any and def not to display - may just put ones of old spud and 'baby' patoto in. We killed our last camera in Disney Paris so this is a cheepo disposable camera scanned in - not the best quality - no megapixels here - maybe just as well!

I spreading myself thin but not losing weight

What a night. As a Director of a non-league footy club it's my job to sort out player registrations, and it had all been going swimmingly until I couldn't get confirmation my last batch of registrations sent on Saturday had been received - a batch that included our goalkeeper! Somehow, the man who's job it is to register players had managed to wangle a holiday, starting Monday (and not bothered to tell me!). Great for him, but bad for me given that I'd sent him the forms on saturday and the

Life in tents!

Busy couple of days getting ready to head down to Cornwall for the weekend. This has involved sorting out The Big Tent (Aka amityville cos its as big as a house and we seem to always manage to pitch it on a hill...!) plus other camping paraphernalia: gas burners, big bottle of gas which still scares me whenever I think of the large amount of highly flammable material currently residing in the back of my car, table, camping chairs, blow up beds pumps and lights, box of plates saucepans kettles

O' mister delivery guy where art thou?

Waiting for SMS guy to deliver Sophie's Leeds ticket today, before going to York to see her, I can't really be arsed to wait and I want to see Sophie as I need a hug. So I've floated a question over to her via text, asking if I should just go to York and rearrange the delivery for another day (most likely Monday). So I'll see what she says when she replies. I'm currently putting some Elliott Smith on my music player for the train journey there. no Royal Mail post today, I enjoy getting post

Bloody Car....

I've had a dodgy clutch now for about a week....so....a couple of days ago I took my car, and clutch to my garage man.... Well I went to pick up my car this morning and guess what....yep...it wasn't ready...so he gave me a bloody great Rover for a couple of days.....I couldn't even see over the steering wheel , let alone reach the pedals.... When He'd finally calmed me down and adjusted everything off I trundled.... I went ok on the motorway,.....on account of it being in a straight line

Being happy...

...is rather nice Despite everything that's going on in the world and my bank account, I'm a very happy bunique today. It's unusual. I could get used to it Still pondering some kind of festival business... Need an image of a smiley scratching it's chin and frowning. Severely worried that at 21 I've already become jaded and cynical where the media and the government are concerned. Is it all downhill from here then or will I have my faith miraculously restored?!

MNE - Glastonbury 2007 headliners take shape

A reflection on a famous music paper's take on next years Glasto ..... Glastonbury 2007 headliners take shape (MNE, 10 August 2006, London) : MNE.com has learned that in a dramatic and groundbreaking change of direction to the traditional mix of contemporary and revered music acts that typically play the Glastonbury festival, the 2007 headliners will take more of an mystical direction. Whilst it was widely expected that Kylie Minogue and the Who would be the big names playing the sacre

hello mister ache, I see you've brought mrs pain

I've been feeling a bit achey today, probably due to the 2 hours or whatever it was I got, went to bed about 7.30 or something, woke, not long after. Turns out the bin man comes about 6am on Wednesdays, amazing what you learn when you're awake. I've got another Leeds ticket to wait around for tomorrow, after which I shall be off to York, quite worried about leaving the house alone for the first night since the burglary really, hope it'll be right. Got an e-mail today from one of the companies

No Slaughtering Matter!

Watched the F word two things: 1. Cooking garden snails is he mad? And feeding them to his kids! Reminded me of the minister and his burger! 2. He's a chef but he's never been to a slaughter house? How as part of my 706/2 i had to go to slaughter houses and reclaiming factories. How come he'd never been to one before is he not a real chef? -Surely everyone who eats meat should go to a slaughter house to see what happens? You can't think of meat dissaccoiated from animals surely? Had to laugh a

School Trip!

Well, not so much of the school. But it's a trip, to the gym we own in Staines. This is our FD's idea, seeing as ultimately I will be responsible for the accounts of the place, that I should really visit it and see the staff and what it looks like - classy from the website (yes I've looked, let's not pretend I have a life). Course this means I will be in a sealed metal box for 5 hours of the day with 3 senior managers....I'll have to be on my best behaviour and tone it down a bit. Just one th

Egigs - Peter Bjorn & John

I went to see Peter Bjorn & John last night, purveyors of fine Swedish whistling pop. I reviewed it too. See here >>> http://www.egigs.co.uk/index.php?a=11145 I'm still loving the bits i do for egigs. In a clichéd manner, it's something i've wanted to do for most of my 36 years, but never had the bollocks to do anything about it before. Hurrah for Neil.

Other people's lives

How addictive is it, reading other people's blogs? I mean, I've done the blogger and MySpace thing before, and apart from one friend in the States whose blog can make me cry laughing, I've never been that interested in reading what other people have to say. I guess it comes from "knowing" people on the boards (or in real life for a lot of 'em) that makes it more interesting. FF's tales of Erica's loveliness are a particular fave! I'm sure it also comes from being on holidays and mostly refusing

fakers

I've had an email from someone today who was emailing to say hello to the efestivals staff they met at the Big Chill. ... the only thing is, the people they met aren't efestivals staff. In the past, I've even heard of someone who slept with a girl at a festival I wasn't at, and they were claiming to be me. I guess imitation is a form of flattery.
