We got back last Friday but I've only just returned to some normality. We are all worn out in fact Darren probably is the most as he had to push both of us round at some point. He had to drive all the way from Orlando to Nashville and back too. We visited his brother and family who we haven't seen for nearly a year and a half - They have an even better lifestyle over there than they did here now they have 2 big houses and a boat - they are trying to tempt us over but despite having a bigger hous
Been pretty busy recently:- Urban Lawns, Salisbury, Wychwood, Isle of Wight (Stones were fantastic) all on the bounce means this weekend we get a week off or would do if it weren't my cousin's wedding. With taking most of next week off for Glasto I've had nine mags to do in one week, plus reviews written, a couple of phone interviews and radio shows. The weather for Glasto is looking rubbish which is really depressing, as I'm there for all of Wednesday and Thursday on me own and was lookin' forw
twas a sad day 7 days ago, when i lost one of my best friends, one of my cats called Rosie or Squishy to Tor and morgan. She was 15 years old so not a bad age for a cat. She was buried under an apple tree in our garden with a white rose and a blanket and a wild rose planted ontop with stones surrounding it from ogmore beach (not too many, they were to go to a pre-school) She comforted me through some hard time and never waivered in her love.
have fun with the mice in cat heaven rosie

Today is Oak Apple Day,
used to be a a holiday celebrated in England on 29 May to commemorate the restoration of the monarchy in Britain and Ireland, in May 1660. Charles I was said to have hidden in an oak tree in 1651 in the Battle of Worcester and the oak apple became a symbol of his restoration to the monarchy. In 1660, Parliament declared 29th May a public holiday.
Though Oak Apple holiday was formally abolished in 1859, traditional celebrations continued involving the we
Well well well...it appears that i have created yet another blog. I just can't get enough of them, the only problem is that i have a tendency to get bored easily. Ah well....

My sister in law is getting married in New Zealand next year. So in order to finance it we're selling the house and moving, well the neighbours have won I guess - but at least we'll get some sleep.
However it's not the wedding I'm excited about but instead the possibility of us getting a flight from Auckland to Port Vila (I'm going home!!!!)
Yup I've already managed to secure the services of the lovely Sheila in Auckland Holiday Shoppe who is on the case and enquiring about staying on
Just got in from seeing Amiina at a small room in the M/cr Accaddemy. f**k a monkey they were good!
It really helped that the crowd were pretty cool. A band like them needs a respectful quiet audience, and luckily they got it. There was a kind of anti-mosh-pit thing going on where the first few feet of people sat on the floor and watched/listened from a frankly perfect viewpoint.
In case anyone is unaware. they are Sigur Ros' string section that usually play as support act to them during the p
ooo i have been a busy bunny, applying for new jobs... looking for new flats and generally being a busy thing...
still can't decide if i should get gulifest tickets.. i do find it hard commiting to things... organising a friends hen night. left it a bit late and its turning out to be a nightmare... we have a venue for dinner (SOS on farringdons roof restaurant if anyone knows it) but getting in contact and organising a bunch of some, less than intelligent women is proving to be a pain in the ar
Terribly chirpy today. Doesn't the sunshine just make life better? No teaching today, 3-day weekend and nothing to do all weekend - bliss!
Happy bank holiday all!
i see i never brought you the result of the exam I took. I know you will be anxious to know.
Anyway, i passed, so am now an Associate Tax Technician.
Wow!
Off to donate platelets again this afternoon.
Giving blood etc is a simple task, it doesn't really hurt and it does give you a reason to feel good about yourself. If you have never tried to give, please give it some consideration if you can.
Platelets takes a bit longer...
It used to be out one arm, in the other, so you were completely out of action. Now you have a hand free for scratching, tea drinking and adjusting the settings on your PSP. I have a UMD of The Mighty Boosh

dave from the archive at www.ukrockfestivals.com is collating a history of Uk festivals and asked me for an eye witness account of Elephant Fayre so this is what i told him.
Well i suppose it had to happen sooner or later that i would become a victim of crime. Our shop which is a small independant retail unit which supplies my bussiness partner and i an income, not a very big one mind you, we take home between 180 and 250 per week each. and last week was such a bad week we took no wages at all, what happens, we get robbed. stock totalling nearlly 10k just gone, cash nearly 1k gone, chances of getting paid in the next 2 weeks gone. mortgage and all other payments gon
Saturday night seemed to be going reasonably well with the soundchecks done. All the bands were happy and we were ready to roll.
The numbers didn't seem to be as high as previous occasions, but there could have been a last minute rush, but then with 5 minutes to go to the first band the landlord came and had a word. "we have a little problem" he said. I thought it would be just that there were too many under agers trying to get in so "the sound engineer has walked out on me, taking his team w
The Orchids then, the soundtrack to my teenage years, obviously during my fey, twee, sarah records indie pop days are headlining the indie tracks festival in derbyshire, they reformed a while back and I wept into my cardigan sleeve with joy. It seems that they are playing a festival in Derbyshire called Indie Tracks. Also playing with them is MJ Hibbert, I have a 7" (naturally) by him, and it extols the virtues of lazy office work, works alright if its a proper job. MJ Hibbert is the man, he tal
to find someway to explain what i mean about ancestors when the answer appeared in the book i was reading a while ago. A Hat Full Of Sky by Terry Pratchett here is what Tiffany says to the Hiver (Arthur) on page 304.
And that's pretty much nail on head. Our responses are either monkey, lizard, rat, fish, or a host of other old echoes. It's knowing which impulse rules your head in conflict or need at any moment which gives us the ability to control it and remain human.
I don't know whether I've got insomnia or whether it's my working patterns but it's now 2.11 am on a Monday morning, and I've got so bored (and keep losing at poker) that I decided to start writing this. Actually I'm also up because Sarah's been really ill for the last few days, and I can't be arsed waking her up.
I'm a little bug-eyed because I've not had a fag since about 8 o'clock, and can't be arsed walking to the garage to buy some more.
I know that I've said I can't be arsed twice al
This year i've been vaguely disapointed by most of the 'Exciting New Albums' that came out. I got all giddy at the thought of new Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, Good the bad and the Queen, The Bees but was left feeling let down. They're not bad, but they're not classic either. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is the closest i've come to a Great Album so far, and even that one was disapointing compared to their last album. Same for Arcade Fire.
Their first album was, as you know, absolute genius. The way t
