server tuning

Following the problems of last Monday night (when the Reading/Leeds announcement was made) with accessing the forums - they were incredibly busy - I've been looking at how things might be improved before Glasto ticket day. Some changes have already been made that should see a small improvement of around 5%, and a number of other issues have been identified that should improve things a fair bit more. Rather than just go ahead and make the changes and then discover that too late that it's ma

The Glastonbury Effect

One thing that tends to happen over Glastonbury week, we have an influx of dickheads that descend on efestivals, its as if they are aware that the moderators are away. 2 years ago there was a right plum and if I can recall the thread I will post a link to it.

Happy Vernal Equinox!

Well tonight just after midnight (seven minutes after) it's the Vernal Equinox or Ostara/Eostre/Ladys Day. The earth awakens... new life emerges, sap rises, buds shoot and spring flowers are celebrated as gifts from nature. Spring returns and rejuvenates our own life force. Wear Green! The equinoxes At the times when the Sun is crossing the celestial equator day and night are of nearly equal length at all latitudes and so we call these dates the equinoxes. In March, as the Sun i

animal farm...

watched a very disturbing programme on channel 4 last night... animal farm.. the double muscled cows were disgusting... and when asked if they were as healthy and had the same quality of life as normal cows all the man could say is that their quality of life was comparable to intensivly farmed cattle.... oooo and the chicken bred to be super large with no feathers so that you can farm broiler chickens in tropical climates.... ackity disgusting.... that and the argument for f**king with rice

eFestivals servers coping fine

Today is the first really busy day since all the recent upgrades were put in place ... there's currently over 900 people on the forums (and many times that number using the green pages of efests), and the servers are ticking along nicely, no stress at all. Good news!

Busy, busy, busy!

Biggest news is that K has got an interview Friday! Bit it's just one part of our busy week and she has more after this! The weekend was chocker for us got our last batch of fish, - a moody male dwarf gourami, some over-sexed golden barbs and a Siamese Algae Eater (at last!) so we have a full tank now and so no more fish for a year or two. 50 of the colourful little critters and over a year of getting water stats spot on!!! We went down to see my gran who was a bit grumpy, cos her pension

And the festyness continues.

This morning we bought tickets for Workhouse festival, thats the third booked and it doesnt look like it is stopping there. As I said earlier, we were so put off festivals, after a fair few years doing them, and just over the past week, its the same excitement we used to have, I mean real excitement, workhouse and blissfields have really got us looking forward to something and there would be more, and I really think there will be more. Workhouse for a second, that festival looks on paper like i

More festyness.

A few nice suggestions for festivals in the summer have been posted in my thread over in other festivals. 2000 trees seems highly likely and possibly charlbury if it goes ahead, little ern fancies truck but thats a no no, then it becomes more about the music and less about the festival, well it would with truck anyway.

Online Ticket Tout Nightmares

I was scammed last month by attempting to buy concert tickets at tickettout.com, who went into administration last week. 7,000 suctomers have lost around 1.4m pounds, and of course have no tickets for the events they wanted. The campaign website http://www.tickettout.org is in contact with the administrators of 'Ticket Tout Ltd'. If you have any information that may be relevant or credible in the investigation of tickettout.com please email through their site with any relevant facts which can be

I don't know if it's the neuro problems - but I feel really, badly totalled for the last few days. It could also be Plymuff's loss in the FA Cup I suppose, but i was bad before it. I've even stopped drinkin it's that bad! Maybe it's a cold looming slowly - i don't tend to get colds often. I Saw the Blockheads on Saturday and was hugely impressed with their musicianship - i always thought they effed and blinded and were rough 'punk' but they are far more refined than that. Really good musicia

Festivals.

Looks like the festival thing has gone for a burton as well, yesterday we bought tickets for one small festival, and as soon as tickets go on sale for blissfields we are getting them too. Current talk indicates that we wont be stopping at 2. We also bought this yesterday from belltent.co.uk People who read my complaints know that I was bitterly against festivals this year after a lot of disappointments last year. The realisation came that it wasnt festivals on the whole that were the proble

1987 and all that.

Nostalgia, I am not keen on the whole, Nostalgia tends to be 15 year olds saying how great something was even though they cant actually remember it or its Peter Kay saying Texan bars, they were tough werent they. That said 1987, twenty years ago this year. Was 1987 the quintessential year for music, was it ever bettered? Thats not an open question by the way, I dont want people replying no 1998 was because a shitty stereophonics album was released. A post on another blog and thinking about it

best rumour of the year

I always get scam emails with false rumours - I've become rather good at spotting them i think (tho a few always get thru) - but one I got last night is just brilliant. Surely he didn't really expect me to fall for that?
