It's our first archery tournament on sunday the Frostbite outdoors over 80, 120 and 160 yards!!!! there will be other clubs there and we have to pick our bows up early - so i expect I'll shoot the neighbours who are pissin me off at the moment. In my drunken haze in the last week of work last year i messed up and have repro'd a whole magazine incorrectly - but the print run was too big to re-print - so if you fancy a solving a puzzle go in your local newsagents after Thursday and check out th

A tough time

Well it's been a tough 2 months in the hedge household. The father in law, after overoming Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma through months of chemo and a bone marrow transplant six years ago, found out he had liver cancer in early November. A week later it was diagnosed as large bowel cancer that had developed to his liver He then started to go downhill very quickly hanging on until xmas day so he could see his Grandson - my son - open his xmas present (new bike) before he was admitted later that after

2006

Its been a good year, enjoyable, in parts at least, sad in other parts but all told, all good. Due to another bad festival in reflection, we decided no more for next year and similarly, becoming bored at gigs, we arent doing them for 2007, outside of Brand new at birmingham, oh and we have a few get out clauses, the breeders anywhere, the pixies in birmingham or london, the sugarcubes anywhere, or lisa says billy talent anywhere, but thats it, althought darren hayman or ant dont count. So where

Bit of Luck

A new French Deli has opened on Fore Street so we went there yesterday to check it out. Downstairs is a tiny wine cellar - where i happened upon a bottle of 'Domaine de la Commanderie de St. Jean Merlot/Syrah VdP des Coteaux de Laurens' for £6.95. Drank it last night - it was truly wonderful - so i checked it's price on everywine.co.uk and it turns out it's normally £60 a bottle! Wow what a bargain! I think I'll be visiting the deli regularly! ...which was nice

Have a cool Yule

Ring out those solstice Bells – tonight is the long night. So it’s time for a merry Christmas, Saturnalia, Yule, the Long Night, Solstice etc The solstice is the time of the death of the old sun and the birth of the dark-half of the year. It was called "Alban Arthuan by the ancient Druids. It is the end of month of the Elder Tree and the start of the month of the Birch. The three days before Yule is a magical time. This is the time of the Serpent Days or transformation...The Elder and

My weekend.

Ooh what a weekend. Thursday was our Xmas do, cant recall all that much of it, some I do remember I get little pangs of did I act inappropriately. I don't think I did but hell, until I meet up with people who were there I wont know. Friday I had to make it back from Telford's international hotel to Stafford and thought I was going to be sick every inch of the way, I wasn't but as soon as I got home it was to bed. We saw tenacious d on Friday night.I will try and set the scene for this concert,

Seth Lakeman & Friends Review

Woah two staff Christmas dos mine and K's a winter beer festival at Wetherspoons and Xmas shopping and a few ales = Sunday and I'm still plastered! Anyway here's me review from Thursday: Dan Donnelly – Exeter University 14th December 2006 The Belfast born New York living singer, songwriter is Seth Lakeman’s first support act of the evening and is having a few technical difficulties, which eat into the time available for his set. He opens with ‘Love Will Save The Day’ playing to more of a hu

...too much work = not feeling festive

Up to my eyeballs in Valentine magazines and the Christmas mags seem a long time ago now - so the festive spirit has drained away. We've got Seth Lakeman and Daniel Donnelly and a chat to a few of the people behind the Beautiful Days festival to lift our spirits on Thursday. But it just doesn't feel xmasy at the moment and the bad light and cold weather is wearing the old batteries down. All this not helped by having to scatter the old man's ashes up on the cliffs last weekend - my sister and

clap your hands say presents.

Should really be starting on the purchase of little ern's christmas presents soon, by now I am usually done and dusted and punching the air in delight that I have again surpassed myself and she is getting something totally unique, in the past she has had artwork, signed first editions, extremely rare records. This year so far I have got her some slippers from new look, and as far as inspiration goes thats about all that she will be getting. What do you get the dwarf that has everything? My clap

fun, and games.

Fun and games this morning, a couple of things put a gordon ramsey sized crease in my forehead. First off Nightcrawler pasted a link to a website, a silent auction website and I posted that according to public records those people did not exist, the owner of that website messaged me, that was a surprise and well we discussed my comments and I think it finished amicably, my only thing was how the hell did he know about those comments? The other thing, wee insomniac posted tubgirl this morning, n

Christmas Postbag Special

Postbag iv - Christmas special! Hello and welcome to the sporadic sifi blog colour supplement - the blog equivalent of the part of the newspaper you read when you've got through all the good, newsworthy sections. What with Christmas coming up, we've got a slight Christmas flavour - we've soaked the blog in brandy for a few hours and have decorated bits of it with holly leaves made of marzipan. Let's start with our agony aunt section. Here's one from an occasional supplement regular "Bee
