Welcome

Well first off welcome to my first blog and when I say first it aint just a first on this site its a first for me altogether. Today I packed up the Mobile Planetarium into our camper ready to go off to a school to teach the little angels tomorrow, which is great fun, no really I do enjoy it its the getting up at 4am tomorrow that I am not looking forward to, normally we go up the day before. By the time I get back I will be exhausted I'm sure because its hard work putting the dome up etc.

The Raconteurs

...docs visit

Well the specialist thinks it's serious - and he said it's compounded by my having arthritis - i didn't know i even had arthritis! When did they find that out? And when were they going to tell me? Seems i also get swollen joints in the cold weather, but the lack of hand co-ordination - it's getting worse by the week. In the words of the Guvnor "Damn these useless hands!" and seems to be the cause of greatest concern to both the doc and the specialist, especially the rapidity of my decline.

still bored.....

So last night was spent shuffling around the house trying to overcome stiffness, felt like walking through treacle, but you'd be amazed what a healthy combination of pain killers booze and weed can do for you.... didn't get up 'til 4pm today, so something must have worked! Most of the day has been spent lying on the sofa, so an 'update' seems kinda redundant. What have I learnt today? V for vendetta is better than I thought it would be, Iain Bank's prose can be quite impenetrable when he want

whadafuch??

So, what the hell am I doing? Writing stuff down, communicating, all that shit really isn't me, but i'm bored witless and stuck in the house so I may as well amuse myself. I am fortunately realistic and know that this will in all likelihood be read by no-one other than a bored Korean teenager confused as to his google results, so here goes..... A few weeks ago I started to have a pain in my hip that within the day had stopped me walking. I've not been able to go into work since, so i'm d

Missing Meet

The off season meets are in full swing with the London one due on tonight I think at Synergy which looks like an excellent venue - I'm really gutted we're not going I do enjoy eFestivals meets. Then there's another one up Manchester - those are always legendary had a great time at both of the ones we attended. No news yet if there's an annual next year - but as the last one was down this neck of the woods I suspect it'll be up country and I'd have to do a lot of persuading to get K to drive

sad day

Life online is an odd beast, I have had an internet connection since around 96, 28k modem and it moved like a wounded dog, over the years I have made acquaintances, some friends and some very good friends. I have met heroes due to the internet and discovered more music than I could imagine. I have friends in Salinas, London, Chicago, Leeds, Glasgow, New York and other far flung places, St Albans for example. You know these people but you don't really know them, the lady I know in Salina

Last wekend

I just absolutly love this photo. Me and Blue_mondays near Runcorn looking like a scene from 2pints of lager! taken at the weekend. Taken from my Myspace blog last week: """Last Friday was pay day Me and Darren went into town, first off to the Pilgrim for a nice lunch but now all the students are back there was no space, so then it was off to subway instead After a huge footlong buttie we went shopping, mainly just mooching at stuff but eventually i bought the new HisnHers and Differe

new festivals website

Well, almost eFestivals now also has the domain eFestivals.com ... it was on sale from a 'domain broker' (that's a domain tout to you and me) for very very VERY silly money - $35,000. But I'm pleased to say that nothing anywhere near as stupid was paid for it. It was bought mainly to protect the efestivals.co.uk brand. If someone else had bought and used it to start a festivals site then I'm sure it would eventually have impacted on (this) efestivals. At the moment, I'm not sure how i

Scary

I'm back online for a reasonable amount of time again after a month of jury service. That's double the usul 'tour of duty' but the case was quite complicated and needed the time. Still, after a year without a holiday, it was quite nice to have a month off work. The result was one guilty, one not guilty as there wasn't enough evidence. Anyway, I've been back at work a week now, and already am back into that depressing groove. But this morning was a bit different on the daily commute when I

80's revival

What chances the 80's revival? MNE : 09 October 2006 The music world was left feeling somewhat apathetic and bemused today, as it was announced that a long forgotten group from the 1980s and early 1990s were looking to push their way back into the limelight. A spokesman for "The Tories" announced today that the band were looking to regroup and reform in order to re-capture their glory days of twenty years ago. The controversial outfit, responsible for such hits as "Support of Apartheid", "

Chip off the old blog?

Seem our daughter Z has been nominated by her new school - for a special award she's competing with 100 or so Exeter school kids for the Excellence in Exeter Award - we all have to attend a posh event at the Universtiy where we'll find out if she's won. even if she hasn't she wins a pin and a certificate. i'm dead chuffed she's up against some kids nearly doubly her age! Of course like her parent she'll discover drink and drugs at 14 and screw her academic life up as she goes off the rails - b

c30 c60 c86 go!

I am 36, I realise my age wont mean much to you or this thread but it sets a scene. I read on nme.com that a couple of gigs are happening to celebrate the 20th anniversary of C86, I appreciate that only a handful of people on here will have heard of C86 and a few less will actually have heard it. C86 was initially a covermounted cassette that the nme put out in 1986, later getting a vinyl release. It comprised of indie bands from that time who were categorised under shambling as peel called i

Shut up Peter you old bastard.

During the 80’s I was aged between 10 and 19, the 80’s are therefore still fresh in my mind. At the time we had popstars that cared more about their hair and their drugs than they did about music, it was the beginnings of the cult of celebrity people like Amanda and bruiser de cadenet, music was at its lowest, waiting for a reaction that thankfully came from the likes of the smiths and later on nirvana. I lived through the 80’s and I hated them, the politics, the music, the fashions, and the cel

...could it be?

Well quick update. It seems I'm showing signs of the disease that finished my old man and, I've recently found out my grandfather, it's a genetic illness and there's a good chance i have it. I have to see a neurologist. But it seems my fate could be cast. Least it means i can go back to smoking! Seems my aching joints, shaking legs (Fasciculations - it's called for all those who constantly at me), regular cramp in my feet and lack of strength in my fingers occasionally could be down to MND -
