  1. I think most of us are in the same situation re: headliners. I can't wait for Fred Again... and, no matter what people think, he's a massive booking with serious credibility. I'm not sure I've ever met a Sam Smith fan in my life, but on Spotify he has four songs that have reached 1 billion streams and, by the end of the year, I suspect all four will have broken 2 billion streams each. So, someone is listening to him. I thought Garrix's show was excellent in 2019 and will watch again. Stormzy is the weird one. Due to be a sub in 2020 and, yet, is a headliner in 2024 with no significant release between the two dates. Strange. Two (potentially three?) headliners to go. Subs are looking good though if rumours/leaks are to be believed. Raye and Janelle Monae provide excellent female representation and will both be great live. Line up just needs more guitars and live music, rather than button pushing IMHO.

  2. That looks a LOT like one of the Ethiad model planes that used to live on the roundabout just outside Heathrow Terminal 4:

  3. There are only 3 cartoon figures/puppets, so guess we should see it as three lines. 1. Editors Tom Odell 2. Raye Skrillex Modeselektor 3. ???

  5. I don't recall ranting on here, either in this thread or any others. I simply answered a question about RA's as I have stewarded for Oxfam on 5 occasions and requested RA's pre-festival due to my accessible needs. This led to further questions which when I answered I was polite and helpful. Sorry I couldn't be positive, but as Meatloaf said "two out of three ain't bad".

  6. I’m away for the week in the Lakes. I hoped that Ambleside Tescos Express would stock Brothers, but it doesn’t. I bought a few cans with me so I can still do the occasional entry but compared to my previous 2-4 a day this feels futile, which is ridiculous. Still roll on next week, some of the competition cans should have arrived and I can make up for it.

  9. Just checked everywhere and nobody has got beyond the first line. If each line contains two acts then they must be unknown ones (which will not go down well on socials once revealed), especially if it's some Mongolian nose flute players called Thpifycyjdns.

  17. Went to see TheSmile last night at Ally Pally. Honestly, I found it very dull. To be fair, I was tired and just not in a mood to listen to them. Could not help feeling they would have been much better in a theatre. On reflection I shoud have sold the tickets when The Chems were announced for RAH. However, a few weeks ago, I was really looking forward to seeing The Smile as I have never seen them before. I doubt, I willbe rushing to get tickets the next time they play.

  20. Yeah well to be expected. But you never know. Once I get into the Glasto queue for the gates I always stick it on just as the sun is coming up. Sets me up perfectly for the next few hours slog.

  21. He's apparently trying to get The Cure or The Smashing Pumpkins to play next year. In an interview YB said Robert Smith "couldn't make it work this year" but "loved the idea".

  22. The London group should try to arrive on the west side of the site otherwise they'll have to trek all the way through the site with their stuff from the east car parks to get to you.

  24. Yes but clearly not happening. My guess is conversations went as he said no to sub to return to headline. That whole border where subbing could backtrack his bump

  25. 100% this. Keith was just a dancer for the first two albums, didn’t pick up a mic until Firestarter but still only did vocals on 3 tracks on Fat of the Land, did nothing at all on the next album (if you discount his awful take of Hotride being used in a remix), before becoming more prominent on their later (in my opinion, far inferior) albums. By that reckoning, you could argue that the Prodigy shouldn’t tour without Juliette Lewis. They also have another frontman who appears on every album, and cumulatively significantly more tracks. Maxi Jazz, by contrast, was with Faithless from the start, sings on all their biggest tunes, and was undoubtedly their front man. Touring without him is tantamount to Underworld touring without Karl Hyde.

  26. Ideal for the festival. The pyramid headliners who would all play for free😉😊. Just enough saved to pay for Fleetwood Mac to headline the other, maybe.

  29. So just on the train back to my hotel from the Chemical Brothers at the Albert Hall. I’ve been very fortunate to have seen them 3 times at the farm but OMG in the small venue they were fantastic. The sound and lighting was amazing. Hope they are back at the farm next year.

  31. Tbf one of the best vibes I had from a weekend at Truck Festival was when they had an orchestra first thing on Saturday morning playing movie scores. So they could do a lot worse than that, or at least a gospel choir doing similar stuff.

  33. Open'er is NOT soldout. They have dua Lipa , maneskin, doja cat, Sam Smith , Skrillex, Foo figthers amongst others . At this stage it may be better to go there 😁.Same for rock wechter , great lineup, not soldout . Sziget was'nt able to get artists , let's switch. Or We can just go there for real AA+ acts , and go to sziget for cheap ( and numéros )BB- acts. Soleine going to one major european festival + sziget will get an incredible festival expérience this summer . Let's face it sziget juste get dowgraded from one of the best european festival to a strong regional one. Cheap alcohol isn't an argument anymore.

  34. @stuie I haven’t seen any “rants” here just @StoneCircle explaining what happened to them and warning others. I want to have a positive thread about the practicalities of volunteering. Let’s move on without people triggering each other

  35. Agreed. Seen them 4 times over the years, first 3 with Tom Hingley on vocals and more recently with the original singer. Always good value. And Boon is a legend, both on keys and banter.

  36. Makes sense that they would be but also slightly unfair that those who have already won then get a 10x advantage of winning again from the same purchase!

  37. There's been a bit of chat about Row Mead and Rivermead in the last few days, so I thought I'd bump this thread. Personally, I'm not camping this year but as I got in on Thursday late afternoon last year I pitched up in Darble last year, literally next to PGA and the fence. Can't see me ever changing again, to be honest. Yeah, the walk back is longer (but that's all part of the adventure, strolling back from the south east corner at the early hours, diverting here and there) but getting out on the Monday morning was a doddle and I was on the road within 30 minutes of packing up. Loads of room and very quiet when you want it to be, too. Anyway, what are everyone's camping plans for this year? Map changes pending, of course.

  38. Please feel free to start your own thread if it's a topic you wish to discuss about Oxfams operations and complaints about them. This one is for sharing of opportunities for volunteering or highlighting work opportunities at this year's Glastonbury. The last few pages have derailed the whole flow of this topic.

  39. Big Weekend has always been something of an exception to festival exclusives, because it's seen more as a promotional event than a proper festival set. Most of the acts only do 30 minute sets performed for the cameras - the crowd is there almost as set dressing. Even the "headliner" usually only gets an hour so it's not really the same.

  41. Songwriters - just like authors, filmmakers etc - are capable of creating characters and embodying their perspective. Obviously there are plenty of examples of singers taking real-life heartbreak and singing about it but just because a song contains a lyric doesn't mean that the singer actually thinks that. I would argue that the best songwriters are those who are capable of writing from a perspective other than their own. Really feel like the culture today has a huge problem with understanding that portrayal does not equal endorsement.

  43. Haha yes. To be honest, KOL, The Fratellis, Editors were quite big for me back then but The Fratellis should have never subbed. It's still better than having SZA, Burna Boy and Paloma Faith all on one stage.
