Whisper it, but there’s a few predictions of high temperatures and long dry spells from mid May through to July. Also temperatures looking better towards the end of next week. Hopefully in time for the build to get really going.🤞😊5 points

Lots of negativity on here. Festival veteran from Glastonbury, Life Is Beautiful in Vegas, T in the Park and many others. Loved Sziget last year seeing Amyl and the Sniffers and Sleaford Mods. Looking forward to Four Tet, Kylie and Fontaine's DC this year. Were in a group of aging over 40 plus and it's all about having a carry on with your pals. Music makes it better.4 points

It's beyond me how this band is not bigger? (Sunday, "The Buzz" stage). If you are missing bands and rock from the lineup, check them out.3 points

You're unlikely to get boots with great arch support off the shelf, you should look at getting a pair of insoles. I'd recommend green Supafeet at around 30 quid. I have narrow feet and Scarpa boots seem to fit me.2 points

Sorry, I have actually no idea or intel or anything. It was my attempt at parodying common eFest tropes... 😅 Altho, I had no idea ME didn't think too much of the Cave, would be curious as to why!2 points

Well Albert Lee is 80 and Paul Jones of the Manfreds 82, so if you have ambitions to see either of them best get yourself to Acoustic Saturday P.M.1 point

Best just to go in a shop and try a load of boots on (or even get a proper fitting). What works for one person (even if they need the same things you need) won't necessarily work for the next person.1 point

The best advice, for any newcomers, is to simply give it a go. Glastonbury is so amazing that if it’s not your bag, there will be a myriad of other options available to you. Unrelated but I’m currently watching an Eric Prydz set from Ultra Miami, if he is playing Arcadia as has been rumoured, it will be INSANE.1 point

OK, here's a tenuous one, in that it's got the word 'sun' in it, as in 'Sunday'. And I really should have posted it this morning too, but never mind;1 point

I had to look that up. It would appear to be true that a fungal growth can occur on a tree from a lightning strike. However, the fungus doesn't look strong, to me https://www.kew.org/read-and-watch/king-alfreds-cakes-fungus1 point

That is more or less the exact playlist I would create too and the only songs I’m actually returning to listen to. If she had released this as the album I think it would have been very well received!1 point

Oxlyers is flat as a pancake but you’ll be woken up by the Other Stage sound testing every morning. Which gate are you coming in from? Try Bushy or Dairy if you’re Gate A or D?1 point

Can strongly recommend everyone who attends this year to spend your Sunday night on the festival watching Editors.1 point

I would definitely give it a go. It’s just a few people who hang outside. By all accounts inside it’s great. Also bear in mind that even somewhere like this is still better than anywhere else in the uk on a weekend night out. It’s Glastonbury still. Our descriptions are exaggerated and more as an outsider walking past. I’ve heard loads of tales of great moments from various DJs here. Something else to consider is nearly all the DJs playing here aren’t booked just to play here. They will be playing elsewhere at the festival and usually this is a second extra set they play. E.g Job Jobse will play here 3am Monday morning but he also played at least 2 other places across the weekend.1 point

About 5 stages in the green fields, stuff in theatre & circus; loads of the onsite bars... Avalon Cafe has folk, normally at least one stage in SH or Common is doing Rap/Grime at night. Glastolatino with its Latin flavours..... The Truth stage in Shangri La definitely has lots of non dance acts on at night Theres 10 + things at least so that's plenty. Obviously any previous year you had the ability to check the line up pages to see where these things are going on. Honestly not being able to tell the difference between drum and base and techno is bizarre. If your gonna rock up to Arcadia, IIcon, Levels etc.... course its gonna be dance music - therefore dance stages.. and are all the time they are open. The problem is that you seem to have written of a massive slice of the musical pie that is Glastonbury and so your limited music taste is what is limiting your options. Sorry I can't help you with that1 point

if you like bland generic electro DnB ish EDM music, thats sounds almost like the same song being played in almost every part of the site - after hours, you're going to be in for a massive treat1 point

I'm Team @GrumpyRaver! I think Daniel Avery is the only must-see for me, though (a) I'd forego that if he was playing somewhere else and (b) if Effy gets a good slot then she could be really good through the Glade Dome rig. Ben1 point
-
Yeah, the blandness in the slot before (Keane, Sugarbabes, Bombay) is pretty lacking on the main stages thus far. I would've thought PJH would be better as a headline on Woodsies as well tbh instead of Gossip too.1 point

To be honest, it just seems to be the way things roll as I have had similar experiences with WaterAid although they do Bestival in Shropshire (Telford) which is a bit closer to home. Dates of other festivals clashing with real life stuff resulted in my volunteering for Pilton Party last year to keep up the two events per year battle rhythm with WaterAid. I drove down early on the Friday of the event and camped in staff camping after the gig and headed home early Saturday morning to attend Manchester psych fest all dayer that day. Proper done in on the Sunday. It is worth it though. Its taking more and more commitment from volunteers to guarantee Glastonbury access which seems to be becoming the norm across many access routes into Glastonbury. It works for the charities, the festivals and the volunteers. The more commitment shown results in a good standard of volunteer and the "doing a bunk" risk is taken out of the equation. Our summer festival season (usually around 5 attended with partner) are a mixture of paid attendance and volunteering. We work hard for the charities and are invariably a shoe in for future events / opportunities.1 point

Mmmm. Crossreferencing against another festival and against your partners. You've left colour-coding world and gone into the Clashfinder-multiverse.1 point

Hello, newbie here but I wanted to jump in and reassure you. I know the organisers and it isn't a scam. Just brand new therefore they are still building their following on social media etc. I have booked and can't wait.1 point

I've been obsessed with the Unpeople ep the last few days, missed them last year but can't wait to see them now. Potential to get huge if this ep is anything to go by1 point

Usually loads turn up on fanticks (I think that's the site?) - we weren't going last year due to birth of our daughter but I remember looking and thinking about it about a week before!1 point
-
Good stuff. I always listen to everyone at least once and compile a list with a brief note next to each. It's noticeable just how few I've completely written off as I've worked my way through this year. Clashfinder is indicating I'll be very busy, now looking for gaps where I can nip back to the tent or just do nothing for a spell.1 point

That was conversation for another festival, Lovestream in Slovakia, which is just after Sziget. No Macklemore this year, Maybe next one 😀1 point

Also worth noting... the bigger venues take a huge cut on merch. Very bad practice IMO. A couple of weeks ago at John Cooper Clarke gig at City Hall in Sheffield, one of the supports announced - really sorry had to increase the price of the book slightly, as City Hall are taking 25%, which leaves around a quid for me at the regular price. I know some in the industry have been trying to end this practice, and most small venues don't take a cut, but could the big guys at least not end it now for support acts, as a minimum.1 point

Not until after the full line-up and times have been published. 9th June last year. Let us know what they say.1 point

Almost the opposite for me. Gave my white top hat (that I've had for ages) to the youngster sitting on her dad's shoulders towards the end of Elton last year. Didn't see that I'd need it again and she was enamored. The beaming smile (once her mom said is was OK to take it) will be my keepsake.1 point

I know all musics subjective, but the sound of that particular clip cannot appeal to anyone surely.1 point

I pack up my tent and gear on Sunday morning, take it to the lock-up closest to Gate A and then after the last bands play Sunday night, I walk about, see a movie and eventually collect my stuff from the lock-up about 4:30am and catch a shuttle to Castle Cary for an early train. I'm home and in bed by about 9/9.30am.1 point
