I have always kept bits of festival ephemera for the memory box each year, program, tote bag, ticket, wrist band, jam jar of mud from 2016, etc, and the last 5 or 6 festivals I've made a point of tracking down one of the A3 site maps that are dished out at info points. Well, I've got in the habit of scanning and uploading them to Internet Archive and have also hunted down a bunch more via eBay for this purpose: https://archive.org/search?query=subject%3A"Glastonbury+Festival+Map"&sort=date I'd love to add more, but old ones don't pop up on eBay very often. In particular, I'd be keen to buy an A3 map for 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2016 as I was at those festivals and would love to have them in my memory box. If anyone has any of these and is willing to part with them, please let me know. But if anybody has any earlier ones I'd be very keen to get a high-res (600dpi TIFF) scan to add to the Internet Archive collection, I got a 1992 one recently! It's fascinating to see how the site has changed over the years. I'm quite the obsessive amateur digital archivist, as you'll see if you look at my uploads: https://archive.org/details/@mrstephencole π Cheers!15 points

VW vs Julie Byrne and Duster vs Beth Gibbons really is unresolvable. I think all of them are amongst this years finest bookings and each unique possibilities in their own way. Lnly VW in Europe 2024, First EVER Duster Show in Europe, Julie Byrne in Auditori and Beth Gibbons first real solo album ever plus her first dates in over 20 years. Which cruel being let that clash?3 points

Take Less............................pack then take 1/2 of it out, then 1/2 again, you'll still take too much but you'll be closer to correct.....2 points

Getting back on topic.. it appears from a few drone shots on Facebook that these containers have been moved into car henge, no signs of the planes yet. From its current placement it looks as if the "airport" is where the previous small stage was.. could this be the new stage for the area?2 points

For anyone put off by going alone, please reconsider. Once you get there and start seeing the name tags, you soon realise you're amongst friends. Even the people you might not always see eye-to-eye with most of the time you'll find are lovely, in-person. We should step out from behind our keyboards and phones more often, it's a much healthier way of communicating. You'll be glad you went, trust me.2 points

Lovingly the geekery in this thread. Chuffed to have the 2009 map - our first year on the farm! Thank you ππ1 point

Interesting stuff. I'm a complete G souvenir geek (maps very much included) and I have a good few boxes full of stuff from every year since 1989. Finally this could be the reason I kept all this crap!1 point

Thank you for posting those. I must say that the George Fullard piece is my favourite. I'd never heard of him until reading your post. Now I've been able to see more of his work, I very much like it so far. In case anyone's interested (or even reading this at all), here's some other pieces;1 point

I'm definitely following this topic. Maybe give it the odd 'bump' in the final week before Glasto, that's when efests gets most of it hits. Who knows what 'gems' some people may share1 point

Thanks to the kindness of @Staberinde there are now three new maps in the collection: 2002: https://archive.org/details/glastonbury-festival-2002-map 2009: https://archive.org/details/glastonbury-festival-2009-map 2016 Site Plan: https://archive.org/details/glastonbury-festival-2016-site-plan-map And I went on eBay this afternoon and found someone selling a 2005 A3 map for Β£2.50, so I'll be scanning and uploading that when it arrives next week! Awesome! With luck, I'll eventually have loads more archived. My goal is to get everything from 2000 and onwards, but anything earlier I'll be keeping a sharp eye out for too. If anyone has any to sell, drop me a DM.1 point

The download link didn't work, no file there. But I googled it and found a Dropbox link to the same PDF, so I've downloaded it and will put into the archive shortly. π1 point

I took the plunge and got one of these following your post. Initial impression is that tit seems really good, and 10m of fairy lights built in as well, which reel back in very nicely. Thanks1 point

i had the problem the other way around, at least for darts premier league you could just show the code without the app.1 point

Ok so I've been through the TRO's for this year and as far as I can tell there are no significant changes from last year. https://somersetcc.sharepoint.com/:b:/s/SCCPublic/Ee9QiNQk0hJElJUcj-yYw4QBvy8EpraPYOQiJzwG-0Z3Sw?e=ltxHZT So, my advice would be.... - Stick with what you know - Try to stay on main advertised and signposted routes when getting close - Try to avoid the temptation to dive down a lane thinking it will save you 10 minutes when in all likelihood you'll find it closed and have wasted that time and more - If you're a first-timer plan a route carefully before setting off, know which car park you're heading for (East or West etc) and which direction you need to approach from - Don't rush and try not to get stressed if you hit delays - Take plenty of drinks and snacks in case you hit delays - Tune into Worthy FM when near the site in case of any traffic advice broadcast - Hit this thread up if you've got questions, doubts etc and we'll do what we can to make your journey in/out as painless as possible .....but most of all, enjoy the trip. You're headed to the biggest party on the Planet, drive safely and carefully, but make your journey part of the event. Have a great festival everyone π1 point

Best place to camp in Glastonbury. We used to go there for 6 years when we had our van and lived in Torbay. Even rented a cottage out, which was lovely, for my wifeβs 50th.1 point

If you want to be on the west side make sure you come up on the A361, don't go on the A37. Also on the east side the parking stewards will direct families to a car park (I assume nearer to Ped Gate B, never done it) better for Cockmill, but don't have the same on the west side for Wicket.1 point

Yeah, come along. It's good for us cynical old buggers to see newer attendees getting properly excited. Fair warms the cockles to chat to people who are taking it all in for the first time. One of my favourite moments from last year was chatting to a young lad (and this bit sounds weird) in the urinals after Elton. In those couple of minutes, he told me what an incredible time he had, how he'd been a little sceptical, but now he was all in and could wait to come back. I was delighted for him, I really hope he got a ticket, whoever he was.1 point

A lot of running around but it is always worth it! Bikini Kill and American Football need separating, to counter the dirge on after PJH.1 point

... same last year - we went to Leftfield and FBS and it was an absolute travesty Leftfield didn't get to close the stage. They were incredible, FBS was garbage.1 point

Just going back to your earlier post on the Rave Tree, every time I've been there later it's been a mix of House, Disco and 90's/00's dance anthems. Field erupted when someone dropped Sandstorm by DaRude last year. Proper kicked off.1 point

Was also there in 22 for Rog and also every night in 23 but only noticed the secret bunker behind the stage on the last night. Could barely hear some music, walked up to a mound of earth and within was a corridor to a hobbit like venue with 2 djs playing jungle. Marvellous1 point

A few of my favourite pieces of public/street art from around Sheffield 1) Angry Woman by George Fullard (c.1958, but feels very contemporary) 2) SHF by Rob Lee (one of many of Rob's brilliant geometrical works around the city) 3) Steelworker by Paul Wallington (I pass this on the bus on the way to work) 4) Cloud lamp by Subin Heo (I see this every time I go to the Showroom or Leadmill, and it always makes me smile)1 point

I'd disagree slightly. Not an entirely solid back catalogue but enough for a decent hour long set. Plus Boon is a legend.1 point

If anyone's a fan of jazz piano i'd check out the new Amaro Freitas album. Really interesting Brazilian jazz piano, with some input from Shabaka Hutchings on flute and Jeff Parker on guitar. The album is inspired by the music of Manaus, a city in the Amazon rainforest home to 2 million, it's some very cool sounding music. https://youtu.be/geAqxBp-Uhk?feature=shared1 point
