  2. Still negotiating, too early to tell. Szitizen Prime will be announced next week. Hah, they are false.

  4. One more bullet dodged (at least for my taste, sorry guys). Now, we just need to dodge Linkin Park 2.0 and we will be ok.

  6. Seriously reconsidering going back to gold membership. sh*tty arguments have largely done one and massively convoluted levels of conjecture, research, inside info and anonymous scoop posting are back in vogue. Fair warms the cockles so it does.

  9. It might be more convenient for those still on site, but it’s not a great look for the festival when half the punters f**k off a day early; Emily must have been concerned about that

  11. Yeah - the intel could be hooky. But it does vibe right. The 'whether or not he's able to fill the position' debate can be tuned out. The most vocal naysayer is regularly banging the drum for it to be Nick Cave.

  15. Just got back from bangface - cannot recommend it enough. Having a bed is such a gamechanger, feel completely fine after a heavy weekend and got 6+ hours a night of quality sleep! Some of the music definitely not to my taste but theres 4 really well setup stages, great soundsystems and all quite good rooms (bowling alley one was my favourite, smallest of the 4 maybe around a 500 cap room). By the end of the weekend I was enjoying most of the programming to be fair! The move to butlins seemed to be a success (there were a few security incidents but for the most part ok) Crowd is absolutely mad, so much fancy dress and around 50% of the audience are wearing bangface merch at all times (the other 50% generally in fancy dress!). Super friendly. Highlight has to be the pool party - had Mandidextrous and Gladde Paling shelling it while everyone is in this donut shape pool which has jets spinning around like a washing machine, with heaps of inflatables in. Special Request, Hudson Mohawke (who did play CBAT - crowd went feral), Dj Can't Say No, Samurai Breaks, and Lobsta B were some other highlights. Also some random smaller act i had never heard of called Gullyteen was excellent - complete surprise so will definitely try to catch again. Other than the lack of stages vs SEC, i'd say for fun / bimble factor it was ahead of glasto honestly. Crowd generally a lot more into it than at glasto - every DJ was getting huge rounds of applause after sets which was lovely. Vengabus count about 20 after 3 nights of partying FYI 🙂 Very fun weekend - not sure its one for every year but definitely everyone on here needs to do it once. I'll definitely be back.

  18. Yes it's been suggested of Kylie coming back. I think she'll have a fairly high spot like 3rd down.

  19. Thats not gonna happen, balatonsound (4days, approx 160-200 thousand visitors) was a purely EDM music fest organized also by sziget team, was not profitable anymore mainly due to lack of foreign visitors year by year, sziget organizers have decided to discontinue. sziget as a potential edm fest could not compete with other major edm fests in europe, sziget remains unique cause its widely multigenre music and also cultural (art staffs, civils, theatre, circus shows, etc).

  20. Depressingly, mine hasn't. Not because I've warded off the ravages of time, just that I looked middle aged in my 20s Should also add that I bloody wish I was still in my 20s 13 years ago 😂

  28. he absolutely should be, his monthly spotify listeners are less than a quarter of what SZA has, he's released two (proper) studio albums and is the very definition of a flavour of the month artist. Also part of the royal family and has massively benefited from nepotism, which has undoubtedly helped his meteoric rise. Not that it really matters but it does add to my dislike of him, that and the fact he seems very smug too

  30. Indeed and I strongly believe they’ll be at RW. I think there is some over-enthusiasm atm in many people due to their come-back (and that’s normal) that may make them look “bigger” but after a year of touring that will probably fade away. Unless they release a new Meteora somehow… Btw, speaking of 2017…I still remember the change in vibe when they came out after 1h+ of the whole meadow shaking during SOAD. Imo, big mistake at the time from the organisers to place them after SOAD, especially with the more “Pop” approach they had taken with their latest album. I remember being disappointed and talking with my friends about how much of a downer that was, even laughing when they were trying to provoke reactions from the crowd after every song. And then, a couple of weeks later, the news about Chester came out…😔

  31. Do feel for Biffy. Should have had a better crowd than they did on both accounts. Top live act.

  32. I went to see 2manydjs and Erol Alkan on my own just before Christmas last year at Electric Brixton. Most of the 'issue' around this is in your head as majority of people don't notice or care. I'm 48 btw so was older than most of the others there and it was all fine. My lad turned 18 in May and is massively into dance music so I'm fortunate as we go to a lot of events together now. In exactly 2 weeks we'll be in the Gashouder for Awakenings Upclose with Four Tet as my birthday present to him was a weekend at ADE. Got a boat party hosted by PIV on Saturday afternoon and then Breakfast Club on Sunday with Avalon Emerson, Call Super and Peach. Also looking at getting late/cheap tickets for DGTL with Bonobo, DJ Tennis, John Talabot and Young Marco on Friday night and possibly a party with Anz on Saturday. Just hope we make it back to Schiphol in time for our plane on Sunday evening!! We're also booked to see Todd Terje at Phonox the weekend after and then Bugged Out at Drumsheds with the Chems. My wife isn't into it at all so he's really opened the door for me to go out fairly regularly again - feels like the coming of the second summer of love or something!! We get to spend quality time together as well doing something we both really enjoy so it's been a great few months already.

  34. Maybe there's a camp wanting a Fred headline show so bad that they start to manifest it - but the camp that accepts he's big enough and it's a decent booking* - without being massively wowed by it - is likely far bigger. (*not to say a hopefully cost effective one)

  35. I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend checking out Melbourne's finest band... Tism (This is Serious Mum). They've been around since 1982 and just returned after a 20 year absence. You'll either totally get them or not. But anyone I've personally recommended them to ended up loving them (personal friends). Very entertaining, their wild shows are WILD. They kept their identify a secret for years but turned out two of them were school teachers. Very articulate and too clever by half. Offensive, bizarre. Catchy songs. The RHCP threatened to kill them if they ever met due to the song 'He'll Never be an Old Man River' due to the River Phoenix reference. Lots of videos etc out there, they're also streaming and have a brand new album out tomorrow.

  36. It is significantly better than Green Man. Can't believe they get compared, to be honest. Not only is the line-up constantly better and more interesting, but it is smaller, more contained, prettier, easier to get around and generally feels more personal. There are so many lovely little details at EOTR that Green Man simply doesn't have. Also the weather is always better!
