Can I ask as a mod that people posting within this thread respect other users that goes for name calling and responses to other users . If people get frustrated then please use the mute button or step away . I’ve had to both myself at times . Politics is a obviously a passionate subject but I’m sure it can disscused in a more pleasant manner . Thankyou all

unfortunately my resolve broke early 😞 .... I guess some of the lack of build up is down to timing and the christmas clash shops will be focussing on that we would normally dedicate our main aisle to world cup but as its xmas its just 1 end of an aisle 2- 0 .... make that 3 -0 .... 31 mins played

The balance is that the bbc are broadcasting umpteen hours of this World Cup … how long was the political message ? If anything for balance it could be argued it should be longer , and an ideal time to give it some balance is before kick off of the first game

Couldn’t give a toss about seeing some flags and fireworks … more important to me is the issues raised about human rights etc . So good on them for providing a bit of balance . Oh and Qatar also controlling a narrative not just the bbc

I’m not bothered about watching the ceremony because I only want to watch the football … not the bullshit celebration stuff … and the bbc are broadcasting the event in fact many many hours of it so if they do some stuff for a bit of balance then great

Not bothered personally about watching openning ceremony and I’d rather the statement . There are many hours of coverage ahead

Hopefully after this people will be able to watch the matches without the bribe question coming into it … although I believe the French matches may also be under question
