Yeah, need a new album for it to be any different to last time they played.

Anyone have any news on that?

Definitely coming but don't think we have a date - he said didn't want to have to hit any deadline. Being in the dark will make the show quite different though for starters, their light show is immense.

Yeah I can’t stand Kanye and have actively avoided details about/have no interest in Kim... so I wasn’t on that stage that night.

Anyone that was there out of anger is clearly ridiculous, whether there reasoning was not, partially or entirely race related. I fear most of it would have been the latter.

It is indeed ridiculous behaviour for anyone to attend a set out of anger or to bring someone down but I don't think these suggestions that it's pure racism are reasonable. Whilst there might have been people being racist (didn't see it myself, crowd near me was fine) but seems much more likely to me that's it's because a lot of people, if not most, think he's an arrogant knobhead and wanted him to fail because of that. I think the obvious explanation that the flag was made to distract him and annoy him is more likely that it being racist, but it's still abhorrent and quite pathetic behaviour for non-racist reasons.

Yeah was really hoping to get the Saturday of weekend 2 announced by now. Planning to go over for Bon Iver on Sunday but will make a weekend of it if the Saturday is worth heading to as well.

Was hoping to have flights, hotels, etc sorted by now but still waiting!!

As an aside - Vampire Weekend announced for a gig in Dublin on July 1. Not sure what that means about their likelihood of playing APE.

@eFestivals has heard that it's Mumford & Sons headlining that night, FYI. I'd have thought Vampire Weekend are big to not headline so they're most likely not there and possibly at Citadel, as said above, instead.

But what's that Festivalpark Wertcher on the Sat?? It says Thursday RW, Saturday Festivalpark :(

Is it not just the start date of the festival?

Would think they’re too big for JP, personally. Other sub would do them right.

Yeah they might be, just thought they'd dropped a bit after their last album (might be wrong but it felt like it). Also was thinking variety but I guess it's been 6 years since they played the Other now.

Liam Gallagher pretty much just self-confirmed

Yep, this'll be a good one, good to have it confirmed by him. In case you missed it yesterday, he's very likely on the Saturday night before the Killer too.

With Two Door playing in Belgium both the Thursday and the Saturday of Glasto, is it completely out of the question that they'd be playing GF Friday?

Where you seeing this mate? I can only see Sat at Rock Werchter. My mate really wants to see them and they've got an album coming out soon so I thought maybe a JP headline could happen. Would still be possible Sunday night of course but Friday probably too weird if those dates are right.

Could just be for Citadel if they end up being an exclusive there, but I guess they coupd headline the other vs. Stormzy? Not sure there is much other space for them with the rock slot, Cardi B and Chris & The Queens

Why not? Both of those can easily be Other subs (and I think would work better there), there's space for VW as Pyramid sub or 3rd down.

Could say the same about the killers after hot fuss

Yeah but the Killers are in a completely different league in terms of popularity in the UK. Way more recognisable name and songs.

I dont disagree (although I like EN better than reflector) I guess IMO they still have a strong album left in them and if that happens they'd be in contention again. Honestly their EN tour was one of the best shows I've seen.

Having only got massively into Arcade Fire shortly after seeing their set in 2014, I wish this would happen more than most. My biggest Glasto regret is not doing a deep-dive into their music beforehand. Unfortunately though, I just can't see why they'd get to do it again. Epitome of a one shot at the Pyramid band, I think.

Edit - AF at Wembley on EN tour was one of the best gigs I've ever been to btw.

I bet they've sold more than KOL, Jay-Z and The Verve had done.

KOL were only on album #3 by that point and I doubt any of them did massive numbers.

Jay-Z's Black Album sold well, but did any of his others?

Urban Hymns was obviously massive but the others weren't.

By comparison Hot Fuzz sold an absolute shitload, and I bet (without checking) all their other 4/5 albums went to number one. Gang Signs and Prayers may be Stormzy's only album but it probably sold pretty well. The Cure have been going for 40 years, I bet they've shifted a fair few in that time.

Kings of Leon in the 10 years prior to that have sold several times more than the Killers have in the last 10 now (unless they've made up a monumental gap with sales of old albums). They've also sold more the Killers in the UK in their careers overall, if you're interested. Those 2008 headliners were a pretty big deal at the time, the end of the Verve and the decline in popularity (and output) of KoL and Jay-Z just makes it look much weaker than it was.

Does info and discussion on these threads ever make the festival respond with an announcement ? I mean now the likes of Glastonbury fest feed , NME and Somerset Live will without question be making the most of it .... or will they just stick to a pre planned date ... and let the speculation continue even if it's spot on ?

I remember Emily saying they announced Radiohead so early because so many people knew/it had been leaked. Dunno what exactly she was referring to though.

Love too share a headliner with.....it says here...Forecastle Festival.

Whose other headliners include global mega stars Anderson Paak and The Avett Brothers.

So how is it that there's still more headliners to announce when the poster clearly says Bon Iver/National/Smashing Pumpkins/The Cure are headlining?

Sorry, not familiar with this festival.

Last year they had 5 headliners (Pearl Jam alone plus 2 sets of co-headliners including ones that could headline outright). Unclear what it's gonna be like this year (any number from 4 to 6) but when asked if there were any more headliners to come after the last announcement they said 'do the maths :) '. Could mean 1 more to equal 2018 number or 2 more to 'fill the gaps'. Making it even less clear though, in 2018 they had made it clear there were more to come using dots to indicate missing co-headliners - no sign of them on the poster this time. Hope that helps in some way...

Primavera has got pretty big and exciting headliners but it's true that they are not that well known in the UK. Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande or so could perfectly headline glasto but they must be expensive as hell. Not gonna point out Post Malone cause he's not my thing but one could argue..

If we end up having Childish Gambino and Tame Impala as subs/other headliners would be great tbf.

I think we're looking at different festivals, which one are these at? Are you talking about Primavera Sound, Barcelona? All those headliners are nowhere near Glasto headliner level.

Kendrick could've been too expensive, not sure, but he would never have played the same year as Stormzy anyway. I think he might in the future though. I think Ariana would be met with uproar tbh. Obviously she's absolutely massive right now (but mainly amongst a different audience) but a pop star without the back catalogue of hits or widely perceived artistic credibility (rightly or wrongly) like say Gaga or Madonna would be a strange way for them to go.

I know is general consensus around here that there are no headliners available this year but checking Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza etc seems like there are plenty of interesting choices. It seems more like Glastonbury not being able to attract them for some reason, probably money.

Which ones? Primavera have essentially gone without headliners - Glasto could attract any of those top line artists and could well have some. Coachella  - Glasto wouldn't give it to Ariana and the other 2 could play lower slots.

Janet Jackson, Childish Gambino and Liam Gallagher would be a really stong set of subs, and I guess that would leave Chris & The Queens potentially for the Other headline vs. Stormzy?

Feel they'll go for a bigger name and probably a rock band (or at least something more accessible than C&TQ) in that slot, can't see C&TQ fitting. Other sub though I reckon.

Migos - Biffy Clyro - Perry Farrell's Kind Heaven Orchestra - Metric - 4B b2b Aazar - Gus Dapperton - Kovacs - Ghali - Barny Fletcher - The Prince Karma - KLYMVX are the new additions

Compared to what Nos Alive/Mad Cool and FIB Benicassim/SBSR are getting, this is very underwhelming. I am hoping for a better lineup from Lollapalooza Berlin which will be announced on Wednesday.

How many festivals are you going to?! Think I've seen you comment on quite a few in the context or you attending, haha.

The Strokes are 100% a weaker headliner than The Killers.

They're better but they're not more suitable for headlining Glastonbury unfortunately. I'm not excited about the Killers but you can guarantee they'll smash it and get a very strong reaction overall (but obv not here).

Where did the suggestion of The Cure not headlining come from? Is this to do with LG subbing on the Sat?

Apologies but this thread has gone a bit nuts, I'm behind on my work and I have no idea wtf is going on.

Oh nothing serious, just people in the thread speculating as has been going on since they were first mentioned, which really winds Gucci Piggy up. In reality, they're still headlining.
