So bored of waiting for announcement number two. God, January is a drag.

What's everyone's top 5 acts they'd like to see announced next? Got to be possible (so playing gigs in Europe in July/August - so no 'Led Zeppelin'!)

    I'd go with:

    - Raye

    - Wet Leg

    - Bicep

    - London Grammar

    - Future Islands

Not sure how many extra tickets they'd all sell, and none of them are headliner-level but would be very happy if any were announced.

    The Last Dinner Party

    CMAT

    Two Door Cinema Club

    Charli XCX

    Daughter (unlikely)

I feel like I'm spamming now, but here are a couple more UK festival line-ups from late July/early August, announced in the past few hours. Rick Astley anyone? 😉

I'll gladly take London Grammar, Declan McKenna, Jamie T, Pale Waves, CMAT & Future Islands!

to simply put, bands that would make a decisive factor and when people see the announcement they would actually consider buying a ticket for at least a day pass for the festival.

Good example of that was Imagine Dragons and Billie Eilish last year. Whatever you may think about their music, they are huge names and people would go to the festival just to see their act.

Another good indicator would be if you had those names on a poster and showed it to random people on the street whether they would recognize the names there or not. Acts listed by rowexx - Lana, Jorja, James Blake, Jungle, RAYE, Sevdaliza, Kali Uchis, Bicep, Charli XCX, 21 Savage,  Omar Apollo, Maneskin, Troye Sivan, FKA Twigs, Arca, Kim Petras, I can guarantee you that out of 100 people, you would find max 10 that would recognize more than 3 acts there, with 2 being Lana and Maneskin.

    As for other festivals headliners..

Take for example Mad Cool: Dua Lipa, Smashing Pumpkins, Nothing but Thieves, Garbage, Pearl Jam, Avril Lavigne, SUM 41, Jessie Ware, Bring me the horizon. Musical taste aside, the hypothetical 100 people from the example above, at least 50% of those would recognize at least 3-4 acts from there (unless you pick 100 people that only listen to domestic music or sth like that)

Rock Werchter has, in addition to some of the above acts Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol and Lenny Kravitz who are all 3 bigger individually than all of the current Sziget acts all pilled together (if you leave out Fred again and Sam Smith).

"Outdated" or not (however silly that idea sounds in the first place) some of those bands (like Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage or The Offspring) would sell more festival and daily passes then, for example, Stormzy or Louis Tomlinson.

totally disagree with the Louis Tomlinson statement, just looking at comments, many people will be there just for him (I know 4 people personally who will attend just because of him). I don't really care about him but I think many people actually do. I also see that with many other festivals he's playing (i.e. Superbloom Festival in Munich).

Lana and Maneskin aside.. who are the rest? are they supposed to be recognizable acts or? They look like a bunch of random bands/acts tossed together.

Yeah to me they are very recognizable at least and I'd love to see a few of those names

They need a prestige booking or two, so Killers, Lana and Maneskin should be top of the list.

Also need a few more guitars, so Vaccines, Biffy Clyro and I'd re-book NBT.

A few more female acts too, so Kenya Grace, Raye, Last Dinner Party and, of course, Wet Leg.

That's ten that would significantly improve the way the line-up currently looks IMHO.

EDIT: Forgot Charli XCX and Bicep (stolen suggestions from @rowexx! Lol)

Would love The Last Dinner Party and Wet Leg, I guess they're realistic to be there?

As @sandorbenisays, the music continued but she was signing album covers etc for very excited 'fans'.

I say 'fans' because a friend of ours was near the front and they insist that around 20 or 30 people were ushered to the front of the stage just before she came on. All of them were holding vinyls. She's adamant that they were actors and the whole thing was set up,

I really doubt that, a friend of mine was at that gig and they were like 5 people with vinyls and they were not actors, just super hardcore fans queueing since like 4am 😂 There were more people with stuff to sign but I really dont think anyone was an actress/actor

Two Door Cinema Club are very likely as they play Grape festival in Slovakia and they always share most of the artists with Sziget, I can see them subbing on main stage, same goes for Son Miuex in A38 slot.

Son Mieux opened the Main Stage this year on the first day. I don't think they'll be back the following year.

    Louis Tomlinson - final submission.

    1. This is one of the first things that pops up when you search 'louis logo'

    2. Louis' doing Super Bloom in September

    3. I believe Niall pulled a strong crowd last year in sub-headline spot so another direction would make sense for booking

4: EDIT: The 'L's layer exactly on top of each other.

    Over and out.

This might be it, seems probable unfortunately.

Anyway, could Dua still be a possible headliner?

I don't think she'll be there since Sziget had her in 2022. It would be very lazy imo to book her again so soon. I'm pretty sure the female pop headliner this year will be Lana Del Rey with a possible subhead like Raye maybe?

  11. Lido Sounds has just dropped it's first wave of bands! Maybe there might be some possibilities here? Thinking about Parov Stelar, Sam Smith and maybe Idles again? I must confess, Idles blew me away. Soap & Skin would also be an addition to Sziget I'd say would be a possibility when it comes to Europe Stage.

He told the NAME of the band BEFORE the public announcment?A fluke?Thats what counts. really.

Hints can mean lot of things. If we would know the name of all the bands -lets say- before the public announcment. That would be a different story.

Look, im not gonna argue about this, you may beleive what you want, but dont get personally  offended when someone calls out other people for presumed bullshitting.I just dont buy that. for a second.I've been around.

    Thats about it.

Btw there was no Sziget in 2020.

But there was a full line up for 2020, the guy gave us hints and names before they were announced. I personally am so happy he's in here because the guessing game is pretty fun while waiting for the next edition. You can believe whatever you want but let's not put others down because of it. Thanks.

On their online wishlist tool I added Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paramore, Green Day, Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance. All these rock bands to make it clear that this year Sziget lacked a rock headliner.

Yeah I also missed a genuine Rock headliner. I like Mumford & Sons very much but I'd consider them more Alternative rock-ish if that makes sense? As in I'd see them on a day like the one Florence played. I'd love to see the kinds of Paramore or Blink-182 next year with YONAKA as a sub if she's big enough, I'm not sure 😄

  14. I have a gut feeling that we'll get Lana Del Rey and The Killers next year.

    I'd love to also see:

Daughter | Of Monsters And Men | Seafret | Anna Calvi | Bon Iver | Highly Suspect | Bring Me The Horizon | Yeah Yeah Yeahs | Wet Leg | CMAT | Declan McKenna | Cage The Elephant | Wolf Alice | Paramore | Maggie Rogers | King Princess | Dominic Fike | YONAKA | Little Simz | Grimes | Fred. again | Tove Lo | Miley Cyrus | Aurora | Sufjan Stevens | Weyes Blood | Manchester Orchestra | Young the Giant | Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners | The XX | Hozier | Metronomy | Mar Malade | Agnes Obel | Broken Bell | Two Door Cinema Club | The Lumineers | Glass Animals | Father John Misty | Cults | The Kiffness | Wallows | Lord Huron | Mitski | TV On The Radio | Conan Gray | Royel Otis | MUNA | Santigold | Ethel Cain | Black Honey | Angus & Julia Stone | Phoenix | Empire The Sun | Foster The People | Birdy | My Ugly Clementine | The Wombats | and many more...

I don't know which of those are even touring or will be but one can hope. And I guess at least one of those will be there xD
