  1. I noticed that last year too, all those people pissing next to the main stage, just by the Water Point (!), and I thought that would be a sign to the organizers that they needed to put a few urinals nearby. Apparently they didn't get the hint! I think they might have a sufficient overall number of toilets, but they're just poorly placed, not close enough to the high-traffic areas where people are spending most of their day at Kendal.
  2. Loved the nice weather and the sets from Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Bombay Bicycle Club today, but it feels like Tramlines is going through a period of shrinkflation. It feels like there are bigger gaps between the acts on the main stages, and even though I follow a lot of new artists, the acts on the Leadmill and Library stages seem to get more obscure every year (and rarely yield any pleasant surprises). As a non-local, I'm not the typical Tramlines festivalgoer, but I'd really prefer to pay more for a festival that had a stronger overall lineup.
  3. Anyone have any idea what was going on with the sound during Yungblud's set last night? Were the amps overheating or something?
  4. Not quite as ridiculous as what the Libertines were wearing to play in the scorching early evening sun. At least Carl took off the black leather jacket, eventually.
  5. Thanks for the confirmation! I'm pretty disappointed though, since I've been loving the advance singles from Pale Waves' upcoming album. I hope they're still playing Kendall Calling, so I can see them in a couple of weeks.
  6. Does anyone know if Pale Waves dropped out at the last moment? They're listed under Saturday's acts on my official drink cup, but they're nowhere to be found on the schedule that got posted last week. Anyway, had a wonderful first day with outstanding sets from Peace and Bag Raiders. The Spanish acts are especially strong this year too: I loved Veinteuno, Depresion Sonora, Siloe, and especially Xoel Lopez, who gave off big David Byrne energy.
  7. Yes, they posted them a couple of days ago:
  8. Like the rest of you, I hate trying to navigate around all those chairs and blankets, and I experienced some horrific bottlenecks (especially trying to get out of Simple Minds while a bunch of other people were flooding in to get good spots for Green Day). But I've seen it even worse in previous years; I think the organizers have taken steps to build in a few more "no chair" corridors--they're just not wide enough. I actually felt lucky that this year, most of the bands I wanted to see on the main stage were all playing in a row, so I didn't have to move between the main stage and big top a lot.
  9. Maybe I'm just used to UK festivals, but that's not a normal rule there, and there are all kinds of ways to use a small umbrella while still trying to stay aware of your fellow concertgoers' needs. Whenever I need to use one, I'll stand in the back and try to keep it low, just above my head. And even with a poncho, which I don't have on this trip I made specially to Croatia to see this festival, I wouldn't want to be standing in the pouring rain for 6 straight hours.
  10. What is up with that crazy "no umbrellas" rule? They confiscated my little pocket umbrella yesterday (although I got it back once I left the festival site). After the giant downpour we just had, I'm kind of dreading going to the festival site and possibly being stuck in the rain. And I'm not a huge fan of any of the acts playing today, so I'm tempted to just stay in my hotel room.
  11. I wonder if they quietly bowed out due to the Barclay's sponsorship.
  12. No, Wunderhorse played Great Escape. I was there.
  13. New additions. Not a lot for lovers of music, but quite a few options for lovers of podcastss...
  14. Massively underwhelming set of new additions. The only one I'm really excited about is Mr. B the Gentleman Rhymer, to be honest.
  15. A bunch of new acts added today: A-Trak b2b The Magician, Íñigo Quintero, Pale Waves, Sundara Karma, Peace, Bag Raiders, Yuksek, Jersey and Nunatak. I'm actually pretty impressed; when you factor in the Spanish bands (many of whom are excellent, if largely unknown in the Anglosphere), this might be the best value-for-money festival I'm going to this summer.
