  1. I see, interesting!
  2. Would someone like Bob Dylan play the Legend slot? No clue if he's active tho
  3. Just because you don't like Liam you don't have to keep saying he doesn't appeal to the kids. Aren't you an older guy who lives in the US, so how do you know anyway? His shows are full of very young people and he has captured the new generation more than any of his contemporaries and most of the indie bands who debuted after him in the 2000s. His fanbase is full of Tumblr girls who worship his face on their blogs and socials and Lemon boys on TikTok who base themselves on his image. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Eminem plays a festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this December. That's surely A LOT of money he will get for that gig. Don't know if he only plays festivals for this amount of money these days, but at least R&L pay more than Glasto.
  4. Centenary Square Festival in Birmingham has been cancelled, too (saw that in another thread here)

    Oasis

And you seem to be buying into Noel's narrative where he always blames Liam for everything. Even Andy Bell (Oasis bassist), who is usually not the outspoken and confrontative type of guy, said that Noel lied a lot about the Oasis split to make himself look better and raise his own profile with the public. And if Liam is the only issue like you claim, how come he gets on very well with all the other band members and none have a problem with him. In fact they all immediately knew that they wanted to stay together as a band after Noel left. Band members, crew and other people in the industry speak very highly of Liam. Btw Noel's versions of various controversial stories in Oasis history sound a lot different from what other people who were there have to say about them (sacking of band members, cricket bat incident etc) and guess what - his versions always make him look less bad whereas he's basically the villain in those events according to other people. But if you only want to believe what Noel and his mates from the Scum newspaper have to say, I can't change that. Oh yeah, that's right - Noel was chummy with Scum reporters and let them in the Oasis circle during the last years of the band - Liam was rightly against that and that was something the brothers argued about at the time. I'm sorry, but the kind of people Noel surrounded himself with don't reflect well on him. Yeah, I'm too young to have really experienced these times myself, but I'm not stupid and I certainly don't form my opinion on Oasis based on sh*tty tabloids and Noel's one-sided stories. This already turned out too long and I won't go into more detail as this is boring for all the people who are not big Oasis fans and haven't read deep into Oasis history.

    Oasis

Liam could easily sell out Heaton Park on his own anyway, so these tickets that allegedly go on sale in September according to OP/the Ticketmaster manager may as well be for a new Liam tour. I'm part of the new generation of Oasis fans and I know that many people my age and even younger don't really care for Noel, he doesn't resonate with us like Liam does. It's thanks to Liam that Oasis have that many young fans. Sure, I would be excited about a reunion, but it would be about the emotional impact of seeing the brothers on good terms again. I don't need a grumpy Noel to stand there on stage waiting for his pay cheque, then I'd rather just see Liam solo.

    Oasis

Liam has said on a few occasions that it wouldn't be about the money for him though. Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if they would prefer to play their own gigs with their own fans rather than Glastonbury with a more casual crowd.
  8. Thanks for all the interesting posts, everyone! Woah, had no idea Superstruct will be up for sale. Do we know if all their UK festivals are doing well or would a new owner be interested in trimming the fat?
  9. I see, so maybe it's a little less worrying than the article suggests
  10. I just happened to see that Pennfest announced today that they're cancelling their 2024 edition. I personally never went to this festival, but I thought it would be interesting to talk about the state of smaller festivals in general. Any insights into other festivals who are struggling as well? Are there just too many festivals these days and more are bound to call it a day? Here's the festival's official statement, they want to come back next year: “We’re very sorry to announce that we are no longer able to run the 2024 edition of Pennfest . This is so we can take a year off and regroup for the 2025 event. We know many of our regular attendees were very excited about the 2024 edition but over the past few months it has become more and more apparent that with challenging trading conditions coupled with significantly increasing costs in a very challenging economic climate has made it impossible to deliver the event to the standard our customers have become accustomed to, despite looking at all available options. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and the whole team is devastated by this after all their hard work over the past 12 years since the festival’s inception. It saddens us even further that unfortunately this situation does not only apply to us with a significant number of festivals like ours in the UK and internationally already cancelling or postponing their events for the same reasons. For us it’s important to prioritize the wellbeing and the long-term sustainability of the festival and by regrouping in this way we can deliver on our commitment to further high-quality experiences in the future. Ticket holders will be contacted in the next 48 hours to outline their options. You will be able to request a refund however tickets will automatically rollover to 2025 and we are asking you to keep hold of yours for then, allowing you to go to next year’s event at this year’s price. In the meantime, we will be working on our plans for a revitalized festival in 2025 and we are aiming to announce our plans during the 2nd half of this summer. We’d like to thank the whole Pennfest family of festival goers, artists and supplier for supporting the event over the years and very much hope we’ll see you all in 2025.” https://pennfest.net/ Here's a breakdown of all the UK music festivals that have postponed or cancelled their 2024 edition, or are hosting their final year (as of 15/3/2024): 110 Above Festival - Postponed Barn On The Farm - Returns 2025 Bingley Festival - Postponed Bluedot Festival - Cancelled Camp Quirky - Cancelled Cheshire Balloon Fiesta - Returns 2025 Connect - Cancelled Doonhame - Cancelled Hayloft Live - Cancelled NASS - Cancelled Neighbourhood Weekender - Returns 2025 Nibley Festival - Final year Nozstock - Final year Splendour Festival - Postponed Spring Classic - Cancelled Standon Calling - Cancelled Tunes On The Bay - Postponed Wild Fields Festival - Cancelled Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta - Returns 2025 https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/music/which-uk-festivals-cancelled-list-bingley-bluedot-b1145413.html

    2025 Headliners

Lorde as a Glastonbury headliner would surprise me. She was seen as the weakest headliner at Boardmasters last year and the online reaction to her booking was really negative. And while online reaction isn't everything, the ticket sales also reflected that she was less popular as day tickets for her never sold out while for Liam Gallagher's day they sold out many months in advance and for Florence + the Machine's day they sold out a couple of days before the festival. So if not even the young Boardmasters demographic thinks that highly of her, I can't see her being that much more popular with the older Glasto crowd. So unless Glasto is really pushing for females, I don't see why she should headline before someone like Liam. And before anyone comes at me, I'm female and in my early 20s ^^ On another note, I wonder if The Rolling Stones would be keen to headline again. No one's getting any younger, so it would have to be sooner rather than later if they're up for it
  12. At least she will be happy with the poster as they gave her top billing next to Liam, Fred and Blink 😁

    2024 Headliners

So was Emily talking about Stevie Wonder when she mentioned the "big American artist" that suddenly became available?

    2024 Headliners

Reading&Leeds headliners look much better to me than the rumoured trio for Glasto. Dua/Coldplay/Madonna seems very pop-centric and not all that appealing if you're not a lover of mainstream pop. So while I don't listen to any of them, lots of other people love them, so yeah - very subjective
  15. The View announced today that they will support Liam in London and Glasgow next year and replied with a couple of cryptic emojis to someone asking if they'll be at Reading too. Could that be a yes? If they're playing I wonder what kinda slot they would get? They surely wouldn't get to sub Liam directly since they're nowhere near big enough
