Yeah - it's one of the most critical bits of walkway on site. Even in dry years it helps direct the flow of traffic.

Sure. You absolutely need to prep, the way you would for a wet one. Brace for all eventualities. But a hot one doesn't banjax the ground and render the site into something out of the first world war.

What about the stuff skiers / polar explorers use? Get done up like you're going to be on a glacier rather than a dairy farm.

See above - get some cheap survival blankets online and attach to the side of your tent that's likely to be exposed to the sunrise with duct tape and/or clothes pegs. Bob's yer uncle.

We're in an 8 man scout tent in Worthy View and it was fine in 2019. Anything smaller, survival blankets and duct tape are your friend. Did the trick for me in 2010.

What was the run in like in 2011? Cos it felt like there was enough rain on the Wednesday alone to trash the site.

It's a false equivalence though - 2019 wasn't 'extreme'. The vast majority managed fine.
