  1. For those of us who pretty much never have caffeine, it would be extremely amusing ๐Ÿ˜„ i'll keep you all at bay with the promise of those hideous coffee Revels!
  2. I'd bloody love a straight edge festival: no drugs, no alcohol, even caffeine etc banned. Just music and people, unadulterated ๐Ÿ‘

    Mika 2024

avalon early evening novelty nonsense, i'd presume
  4. I thought that too before I started going, but it widens the social circle, puts me out of my comfort zone, and just refreshes the weekly routine nicely. I have also had to reduce my cynical distrust of anything a bit woo and mystical too! (To be fair I had to do that when I started going to Glastonbury too, and now Iโ€™m very happy to be one of those early morning yoga types in the green fields, whereas previously Iโ€™d be a bit snotty at those sorts of shenanigans) I think itโ€™s worth a bash ๐Ÿ‘
  5. I'm sure you've heard it loads of times, but i'd recommend yoga. yoga has been transformative for my back - i've had previous issues cos i sit at a desk for about half my working day, and on my days off have a propensity for great big long hikes- so my leg muscles are big and spectacularly inflexible. Since starting yoga a couple of years ago its worked wonders for my lower back, i no longer have any issues with it at all, and my flexibility has much improved but is still fairly disastrous ๐Ÿ˜„ the vagaries of being a big tall bloke i suppose! summary: yoga ๐Ÿ‘

    2024 Headliners

particularly as they've played Reading/Leeds annually for the last half decade (or so it feels like)
  7. Really fancy volunteering at this next year ๐Ÿ‘ the lineup always sounds interesting, its got a lot of devoted followers on here and elsewhere online, and its quite small so easier to get around and work at by the looks of things. A pal of mine has been the last couple of years, and loves it - so i'm going to dip me toes in, as long as i can get an oxfam slot
  8. Keane, Rod Stewart and Eric f**king Clapton: good god. the apocalypse is finally upon us, and its smiling wanly in front of an actually asleep crowd

    2024 Headliners

If i was absolutely bang up for a stadium gig and the nearest one was the Emirates, i'd swerve it as well. I think thats completely fair enough. I was an at England game a few years back when Wembley was being done up, at Old Trafford - a few of us went in a minibus, including my Leeds supporting mate with a pathological hatred of anything Man United. Completely understandable and reasonably so, of course! We had a stack of pints before the game and at half time i went down and got a few pies to try and provide some stomach ballast; he took one look at the Man United badge on the pie and promptly threw it on the pitch, the hate-filled bastard. I couldve eaten that pie if he didnt want it! pie wastage!
  10. This is VERY niche, i appreciate, but if you're in this specific niche its extremely exciting - Cattle Decapitation are coming to these shores in March, and playing a slew of dates all over the place. Brighton, southampton, exeter, London, manchester, glasgow, newcastle, limerick, dublin, leeds, birmingham and bristol - i shall defo be at the brighton and london dates and im looking into the logistics for a couple of others . . . this might be the only band that could interest me in some kind of meet and greet stuff in fact! tickets on sale on friday ๐Ÿ‘
  11. i think it was 2010 when there was a football tournament on, and the fixtures fell so that England were playing Slovakia (i think? mightve been Slovenia) on the wednesday at about 4pm - would they have needed to have amended the licence application to be able to show that? cos if not, then it seems like an absolute shoo-in to just show some classic old sets on the weds and thurs daytime (or old England tournament matches, and send everyone off to a blissful sleep!)

Go on then, i'll have a bash: Dizzee Rascal Basement Jaxx Chemical Brothers The Strokes
  13. Exile on main street and sticky fingers would pretty much be the only ones i'd be returning to regularly. I dont think they're an albums band. But i do unashamedly love Get yer ya-ya's out, for the title and the front cover ๐Ÿ‘

    2024 Headliners

Sam Fender will doubtlessly be talked up as a potential headliner in the next year or two but watching this Reading set, f**kme itโ€™s dull - Iโ€™ll be elsewhere doing anything else. Heโ€™s of the right age and trajectory to do it, and thatโ€™s good, itโ€™s just ahem . . . really not for me
  17. Yeah, its put me off Gloryhammer too, i've jumped ship to Angus McSix for my ridiculous power metal nonsense fix
  18. There's not much in life that beats the sheer thrill of cracking open a strategically deployed can of 11% imperial stout just as your headliner takes to the stage ๐Ÿ˜„
  19. I saw Billy Ocean at one of those Kent hop farm festival thingoes a few years back, and he was absolutely great - it was quite the afternoon with Billy, followed by George Clinton/parliament/funkadelic, and then Ray Davies on as well - an absolutely magnificent triple header and i'd happily go and watch them all again!
  20. i keep on being tempted by the whole vinyl revival thing, but know i'd just be bankrupt and homeless in a year's time, with an amazing collection of thrash and death 12" re-releases ๐Ÿ˜„ i cant do it!
  21. mostly spotify via my phone or my speaker thingo in the front room, and while i can use that in me car, i'd rather buy CD's (mostly for smaller bands that need the dosh more) and listen to them in the motor. I still love the tangible thing in my hand with a CD, and i just sort of ignore the storage/shelves/stuff issue and have hundreds of CD's in my front room
  22. I completely agree, but he is pretty much perfect for the Truth stage too (which is where he was last year, in 22) putting him second to Run The Jewels is the stuff dream evenings are made of!
  23. I had a great chat with a fella in a Nairn County shirt, i'd far rather chat to someone who supports a shite team to be honest ๐Ÿ˜„ there's no time for tribalism and all that nonsense at glastonbury, everyone is potentially my mate. Even (insert your local rival here) fans!
  24. Such a good pairing of acts, i think it was at the same time as some really in-demand stuff on the Other and Pyramid so everyone at WH really wanted to be there specifically, and it was just a great positive feeling in the field. Marvellous scenes
  25. The Truth stage or West Holts for headliners i think - smaller and easier to get near to the front, always a good atmos there, and the music tends to be more like the kind of thing i want to see. I find the pyramid and Other both just too big, particularly during the day - its a bloody ordeal getting across the field, meeting up with people, etc etc. But then when it hits the spot, it absolutely demolishes it - Elton John and the Cure the last couple of festivals were bloody amazing spectacles as a result of being so big and massive and headlinery
