  1. Looking very much like they are going to light things up ?? Lorry moved out of the way and little boxes all over the floor and people on the field still.....???

  2. dunno, they seem to be putting little objects , lights maybe ?  all out the front now, don't know if they are planning to light it up to do some filming  maybe ?

  3. so what are they wheeling out under the pyramid today ?? Couple of vans backed up with ramps down under the structure.

For anyone thats feeling flush ive had a bit of  info about a pair of Glastonbury tickets that will be Auctioned off for charity by Greenslade Taylor Hunt .... maybe at the auction centre outside my front window ... ill post more details as soon as I get it ... but wonder what they will go for ... way out of my price range no doubt :)

I found this in the auction catalogue for the Big Farming Charity Auction on 21st December at Sedgemoor...

  5. 2005 was my first.....Somehow the monsoon and swimming around a field didn't didn't put me off, and I went back and got soaked again in 2007 !

Been to every festival since, although after the wetness of 05 & 07 every year since has been a camper van :)

Been a hell of a run 2005-2020 and seriously worried ticket luck is going to run out soon.

  6. OK,  I had a quick scan and cant see how this fits now, unless I missed it...

"Emily Eavis has dropped some huge hints about next year’s Pyramid headliners saying two of them “have not headlined before"

or do we think this has now been dumped ?

  7. we got 30/ 34 from my list , or 88%

Personally our household got in 3 times, from 2 different devices,  on Thursday, bagging 7 coach tickets from 3 different pickup locations.

I didn't get a sniff on Sunday though, and snuck in the back door with someone else bagging my tickets literally as they put up the closed sign....

Way too close for my personal comfort, but glad my Thursday efforts reaped a personal reward in the end..

  8. we pay £1050 for ours, 6 berth, 3 with double beds.

    Left hand drive though ,

Been using the fella for the last 5-6 years now, and always leave him part of my deposit when I take it back to hold it for the following year :)

  9. Not really overheard, as it was a lady in our party, but she was discussing with Mrs Driver how her and her husband like to "night snorkel" when they are holidaying abroad.....

    FNARR FNARR......

Funny to us guys in the group....

Guess some of us boys just wont ever grow up :D   (50 going on 15)

  10. this thread makes me worry I lack emotion :(

However at least Kylie did manage to almost get a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat, was looking forward to seeing her in 2005, and have lost a few friends to Cancer in recent years so really resonated...

  11. Ill use the term loosely...but a young lady collecting her stuff at the lockups,

    around 11am Sunday morning !!

"yeh we`re collecting our stuff now and heading home, we need to get back to London and unpack as my husband has work on Tuesday"

FFS Tuesday ??? , wanted to slap the pair of them....especially knowing that I was leaving Monday am and in the office that afternoon.

    Youngsters today huh !?!

  12. We left E21 at 8:15

Took about 20 minutes out to the A37. Decent amount of traffic on the A303 but not horrendous and had the big camper back in Bognor by 11:30am, even stopping to give it a good clean on the way...Then a dash upto Basingstoke in the car and in the office behind my desk by 12:30 :(

In the meantime Mrs Driver had managed to walk to the car park , drive to Plymouth, drop off friends, and have an hour long snooze at home, whilst I travelled......to add insult to injury, I wont even get home with all our gear until Thursday !!   lifes so not fair :D

Wont stop me doing it all again next year though !!

  13. Currently sat about a mile from the entrance to Pylle Lane and its quite bright here. Drove through some shockingly dark clouds and worrying looking weather on the way down the A303 but it was all well to the East of the site :)

  14. and today another bullet dodged....Heavy rain as predicted by metoffice this morning appears to have mainly missed the site :)

Just a bit of light rain over night tonight to dampen down the dust and suns out tomorrow :)

Im currently in Hamsphire where its due to piss down.....come on you lovely rain soak me here , please :D

Hope everyone has started tapering off ahead of the start of the festival next week.  Get some big pasta meals inside you and maybe go for a short/medium run at the weekend.

Personally Ill be doing a long run (13-14 mileish)  at the weekend, last ditch attempt to make room for lots of extra calories over the week ahead.

Ill be staying on road though rather than off road trails, as not risking a tweaked ankle at this point :D

I thought in 2017, apart from a handful of vans that were let in by accident, were the fields not closed until around 6pm?

Ah, that was 2016. I was one of the lucky few, and had plenty of campervan stewards for company in m y motorhome sheltering from the weather that day

it was purely because the weather/ ground conditions were so bad that opening was delayed.

They let maybe 15-20 vans in by mistake thinking we were staff. Wondered why we weren't subject to the usual entrance scrutiny but once in they let us stay, and came and checked tickets once parked up, and shared a beer or 2 , as they had nothing to do but stand around all day.:)

Generally the site opens a bit earlier than advertised. 2017 from memory was around 8am ?...I was still asleep in a layby and got honked at to get up.....:D

I’ve never used mine, some of East CV is on a slope (Part of E17 is), but more importantly try to avoid setting up on a slope for the risk of wet ground and getting stuck, CVs in the main don’t cope with that well. If the forecast looks wet then think about bringing wheel grip mats.

Best of all with the CV fields, Tuesday is a lovely chill out day, so bring plenty to eat and drink and have a party! And in the East, head up to the top of the Hill of Death early evening, sit there and take it the great view of the festival.

Ive had to use my levelling blocks most years to avoid rolling out of bed ! E20/21/23 can be quite slopey depending exactly where you end up,

Be sensible when driving in, if you see a soggy field, or other people sliding simply hang back and drive slowly but keep moving. If you stop a weighty motorhome on a soggy, or even moist field with a slight slope you aren't going anywhere again without churing it up for someone else !

I managed to drive a 4.5 tonne motorhome in and out of E21 in 2016 with no help, whilst many others were getting stuck.

My first year (2013) we stayed at the Tangerine fields site in a pre-erected tent located just outside ped gate B, the next one we stayed in a tent next to a friend's camper in campervan east, and then after buying a trailer tent, we've stayed in that since...

Does it make someone less of a person for not experiencing what it's like to camp inside the walls... and what have I missed?

I wouldn't say less of a person, but it is a different experience.

As ive got older I quite enjoy not sleeping on the floor, not crawling into a tent, cold beer, a full English and a shower before setting off out for the day though :D

oOh and being able to bring loads of crap I don't have to carry in order to be prepared for every weather scenario :D
