stuartbert two hats
UPDATE: I've been given another set of contact details by Alex's booking agent. The quest for The Orb goes on!
stuartbert two hats
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but I've had another update "Hi Stuart I will make enquiries tomorrow Alex is billed for a DJ set with us on The G Stage Sunday 29th June and as far as I know he is just doing the one gig. Best Wishes Biff fun@fun-1.com "
Hellborne
No apology necessary Stuartbert, keep the info coming. Does anyone have contact details for the Shangri-La organisers?
stuartbert two hats
Can't find any Shangri-La contact details anywhere. Still waiting to hear from Biff.

Aphex's twin
Oh f**ksticks. I was really looking forward to this as well.
beergut100
I refuse to believe that The Orb won't play. Have faith and it will happen!
kerplunk
They're definitely playing Sunrise Celebration just down the road from glasto in a couple of weeks - excellent warm-up festival for glastonbury btw
AndyJ
So I guess it looks like The Orb won't be playing. I was wondering what people think of the new album, "The Dream"? I think it's great, varied and eminently danceable, although it is kind of weird the way that, "Dirty Disco Dub" sounds exactly like Leftfield, and, "The Truth..." sounds uncannily like Neil Young's, "Only Love Can Break Your Heart". stuartbert two hats
OK, no reply from Biff. I'm going to try a facebook campaign. Anyone fancy being co-admin? Edited May 23, 2008 by stuartbert two hats

mrfunk
Cheers for that. Dissapointed, but at least I have two opportunities to catch him DJing. It will also make it more important to catch The Orb at The Glade Festival, since no opp at Glasto now!
Hellborne
Interesting how the G Stage call him - Dr Alex patterson And Shangri-la - Alex patterson (the orb)....so they do mention "the orb".... maybe keeping everything crossed !! stuartbert two hats
It's just Alex both times. Alex's booking agent told me, as did The Orb's. The Orb's man didn't know who was playing at first, but managed to get in touch with Alex who confirmed he was DJing Shangri-la. FYI, the official site has changed it's line-up because of my enquiries, because of this very thread! One of the messages in the chain was"getting the Orb of all the websites was like pulling a tooth but we didi it"

r0cky
So he's DJing twice? Cool. I understand he's doing a dubby set on the G Stage, so I'm guessing we can expect an ambient set at Shangri-La.

Paul ™
Did he play orb tunes, or was it the usual dubish beat type of set..?
r0cky
It was the full lot mate, billed as The Orb, not just Alex
