Cycling

After my injury 7 weeks ago, I've finally been able to get back on the bike this week. I still think my Posterior Cruciate Ligament is damaged, but I can ride well enough to get back out on the road. Went out this morning with a riding buddy of mine, and was shocked at just what an effect 6 weeks off the bike can have. My fitness has just taken a nose dive, and it's a real struggle to maintain the pace I used to have.

Whereas I used to be the much stronger rider and the one taking long turns at the front taking the draft; our roles have reversed, and I had to hang on in his wake all the way home. Somewhat humiliating; but in in other ways exciting, as I've now got a challenge and something to aim for (regain my form and fitness). Hills are a real problem for me, as I'm hesitant to get up in the pedals and really put power through my knee, so have to granny gear up the hills... but I'm sure it'll come back to me soon.

I saw: let the hard work begin, again, now!

Manchester 100km, sounds cool whats the route?

I wouldn't mind cycling to work and the gym and anywhere else - but the roads are so damn busy all times of day roads are packed from every direction it seems! ;/

Plus the number of bad drivers/banned within that puts me off , if I could avoid main roads or cycle down quiet lanes or something I would

if there is no one crossing, and i go through the light, then i'm not putting anyone at risk, I'm just breaking a rule

same as if someone takes a drug, same as downloading a film, same as drinking a beer on the street

There are laws that most of us break, because they exist to stop idiots who don't think about the consequences of their actions from hurting others. If you're aware enough to only go through red lights when there is no danger of hurting anyone, then you aren't putting anyone at risk.

I don't cycle through crowds of people, I don't cut off cars, I don't put anyone at risk, I'm just breaking a rule.

I'm actually shocked that so many of you are so rigid in your attitude about it

wait... what?

What the hell happened? I take it that was on the way back from your epic ride? What was the damage? How did it happen? Or more importantly... what was the bike worth and how much are they giving you?

I'll be taking my bike abroad next year (never got round to it this year due to buying a house)... so interested as to what happened.
