Picadilly Party

I stopped in green, loooove to party, took drugs at some points, was sober at some points, drank alcohol at some points, caused no trouble at all (maybe to myself), danced till 4am one night, was in bed at 12 one night, was terrified of the riots, watched a hell of a lot of good bands, failed to critisis any band I saw... at the end of the day they must be good to be up there, and enjoyed every minute!

This isnt a message having a go or moaning the only point im trying to make is that I had a flipping good time at Leeds festival!!!!

This was my first festival... before I went it was completely different to what I thought it would be. I realise now its all about everyone coming together to share the love for music.

People celebrate in different ways. Some people have issues and struggle dealing with their emotions etc. and therefore turn to drink, drugs to forget everything and have a good time. Some people are young and naive and stereotypical and follow what they think is cool... i.e riots but hopefully one day they will learn. Some people are fine with themselves and just actually want to appreciate the music. I can see how things such as the sunday night riots can spoil it for them... but they can avoid it. I understand there are some people out there that go to cause trouble but I dont let them affect me... why should I?

Basically all im trying to say is everybody is different, we can talk about it, complain, congratulate, gossip. critisize all we want but lets not forget the main reason we go to events like this.... to have a bloody good time!!! I know I did. Appreciate the music!! Everybody I spoke to was lovely and happy and helpful! Maybe Im just lucky but if I had a wish it would be that everybody had a festival experience as good as mine!

Also... the flipping weather!!! How good was it!!!

Hi There,

I was actually playing and booking all the acts at the Piccadilly Party Stage. The reason why it went to 6am is that everyone wanted late night entertainment all the time to stop them going crazy. So Melvin does some tours of the country everyone going MORE LATE NIGHT STUFF PLEASE. So we put on more late night stuff.

I tried to do different music have different DJ's each night. But every night had some sort of Dance, Some sort of Rock, Some Classics, Some Modern indie disco, and then we had a few specialist DJ's in Drum and Bass, Dub Step, Glitch Electro, and Country & Rock n Roll... The last night we just did good times Indie Disco.

We also had a couple of Drummers and guitarists and I had shitloads of drum machines and weird glitch toys we worked in to 32 hours of record playing.

Nobody on stage was high, although we did cain a lot of booze each night. So not like we were on that E high low bollocks. We were just all just rinsing our favourite songs and keeping the music going. I think you would of find that camping there althought REALLY NOISY, you were actually in one of the safest fun area's. As there was a tower we were calling on fires or danger and constant patrols and CCTV were all keeping eye on it.

Sorry you got a different vibe to us, I personally thought the real gurners where actually in the Duracell tent.

i think this thread seems to have been misinterpreted.

firstly, as stated, i usually camp next to the duracell powerhouse, so i am NOT specifically complaining about noise, i know if i want to go to sleep at 9pm i go to green/brown. thats not what im talking about.

secondly, i know alcohol causes problems, id start a new thread on that if you wanted, but i was specifically talking about drugs, and the fact that they are illegal, in this topic, i didnt mention alcohol, as that was not what the topic was about. and originally, i wasnt meaning to 'moan' about trouble. the whole point of this thread was to:

A) get peoples opinion on wether the picadilly party was introduced as a place for people f**ked on drugs, therefore encouraging it

wondering if one place can have music blaring until 6am, what is the point in the silent disco? its a contradiction, as im sure that was introduced for noise blah blah whatever.

The Picadilly party has been excellent the last couple of years. For one if you keep peoples attention till 6am when most will retire to bed, rather than havin nothing to do and causing trouble as seen in previous years. There was no trouble at all down at it and we had an excellent time and met some great people.

The Silent Disco just wouldn't have the same good vibe that The Piccadilly party had.

Piccadilly Party and Silent Disco on until 6am each night.

Meaning you have been lazy during the day and night and not been pushing yourself !

I saw all the bands I wanted to see , then Duracell , then Beef Warehouse - climbed into tent and was

asleep in seconds !

Usually woke around 10.00 am - then a pint of vodka , red bull and grapefruit juice and I was ready for

another day !

I slept from 7-10am every day until someone woke me up with a bacon sandwich or sunshine... I also caught Metallica and Rage as they were on a lot later in the evening... 'Poor f**kers' in Orange could get some sleep between 6-7... you need more then that? Weeners.

Yup I'm hardcore wimp! I didn't realise the difference between the campsites it was my first year. I guess I was just used to Download and T where its more chilled out and you can just sit with some cans and banter in the campsite I guess.

Keeping the festival partying until 7 in the morning, fuelled only by the festival spirit and a few bottles of JD, then off for a power nap before starting again with some breakfast bourbon.

Doing that 4 nights on the trot is dedication to the cause.

And alot of people were made happy because of it.

i give praise and thanks.

If you dont like drug Use, Dont go to a festival. Its pretty simple.

Saying that you probably shouldn't walk down Camden high street either.

Fair enough, if someone is in your face and you're quite young it can be intimidating but I would be less intimidated dealing with a stoner than a drunk. Stoners can't commit violence upon you coz .................... its impossible.

the horrific music blaring until 6am seems to be completely contradictory to the addition of the silent disco. surley it should be all or nothing?

Get rid of the Silent Disco and then there will no contradiction !

Can I camp with you next year, I usually have a bacon butty and a joint for breakfast but could really go for a vodka and redbull in a morning.

In all seriousness though, speaking from past experience, the first thing that most people dabbling in a bit of this and that want to do after the bands is go and have a drink and a joint round they're campsites and most of the people Ive been with go for a bit of a dance and then come back and chill so from what Ive seen its def not drugs causing the unrest and damage!!
