Come on in leaps and bounds as a live act. Was stood next to the fella from Courteeners at their show supporting The Strokes and he suggested I'd caught them on a bad day.
At least, I assume that's what he said. I was four sheets to the wind.
Anyway, Leeds last week was like day and night in difference. Gives me strong vibes for, of all things, The Cure.
I think the key could be that Olivia Rodrigo's first tour date is in late June at Pinkpop.
Wouldn't make too much sense to stay in Europe for less than a month, would it?
The ones who are not staying in August are starting their tour late May/early June afaik.
Last year Idles, Girl in red and L’imperatrice didn’t get announced until the spring, and the year before Lorde, Little Simz & Frank Carter.
Expect some more ‘big’ names to come through in the spring time , however Franz Ferdinand will be one of the main names as they do announce one of the biggest names first.
I love Starburster but generally I've not really got into Romance, it's the worst of their albums for me but it's done great and really gave them a boost commercially and is winning them bigger audiances.
I find it hard to imagine them headlining the pyramid, I've seen them live two or three times on previous tours and while they play the songs well, they're from the Kings of Leon school of live performances - just playing the songs straight with no real departures or interaction which doesn't do much for me sometimes - even though I like the songs. I think that's fine for smaller venues but more difficult to make work on the pyramid.
It's the crowd that makes their gigs and like someone said, they appeal to a wide range of ages.
