thomasowen
Who cares who is bigger, sells more records, should or shouldn't headline, none of them will be headliners at this years Reading and Leeds. The Cure are just an overrated band Morrissey is just an overrated solo artist The Smiths are just an overated band Its time to get back to the original conversation. Leeds Fri - MCR or Muse (new album out in September) or AC/DC or Green Day or Radiohead. Sat - Arctic Monkeys Sun - KOL
pink_triangle
They are big enough as it will be a reunion. Don't care for Blink anyways.
thomasowen
Blink 182 arent big enough, it may be a reunion but they havent been gone for that long and i dont get the impression they are greatly missed like smashing pumpkins or ratm. They were a fun band but i think a lot of their fanbase may have moved on.
pink_triangle
I never liked them at all at the time, but in the last year or so I have developed a kind of nostalgic love of them as they remind me of a certain part of my life. They were a fun band although I think they probably wouldn't make brilliant headliners, I do think there is an intrest in them once again. she bangs the drums
We weren't debating whether The Cure should headline, we were debating whether they could headline, and the reasons why (in my opinion) they couldn't headline. So therfore who is bigger and sells more records is obviously important as to whether a band headlines or not. Your prediction is not very specific is it, anyone could just list 7 bands as a guess. Muse don't have a new album out till next year though.
thomasowen
I agree there may be some interest but i would say its "2nd headliner" not "1st healdiner interest". I think there is an assumption that a reunion automatically means a move up the bill but the likes of blink 182 and soad are probably stuck in that 2nd slot no matter how long they are gone. she bangs the drums
SOAD probably, but I think a Blink reunion would get much more publicity. I think if they came back with a succesful tour and album they will headline. I think that info is wrong or outdated. As far as I'm aware they have said they will not be playing shows this year nor will the album be out until early next year. I certainly haven't seen them in any 2009 big album previews on websites or in magazines. Besides I think they will do Glasto or Download before they head back to Reading and Leeds. thomasowen
I still think it will be AC/DC or Greenday despite what has been said on these forums. I hate to think who else it could be.

Chavmeisterdeluxe
I still think MCR could be a good shout, I know the album won't be out by then but I'm guessing with this new soundtrack out they'll be shoved down our throats until it is. she bangs the drums
Eh how about Blink 182? Lots of shit about them reforming is going about: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1604362/2...blink_182.jhtml
pigshair123
it's fairly obvious that mika is going to be a headliner

tomdsjames
Green Day's official site was updated last night to confirm that the new album '21st Century Breakdown' will be out in May. Sooner than I expected! Also, Blink 182 confirmed at the Grammys last night that they ARE reforming

AloneInDecember
it depends how genuinely reading are out of ideas to be honest, if they still havent got anyone pinned down, blink would be an easy choice, ticket sales etc but surely its a bit unlikely they'd still have headliner slots open

nowimjustsentimental
With news that Muse will release a new record in September i reckon they could be good headliners alongside Green Day and Arctic Monkeys. The days might in that case look something like this: FRIDAY- Green Day Blink 182 Placebo SATURDAY Arctic Monkeys Franz Ferdinand Yeah Yeah Yeahs Elbow SUNDAY Muse Slipknot Stone Temple Pilots Mastadon Lamb Of God Just an idea tho! benisright
This seems a lot more likely, again shame about Blink though. Would love to see Stereophonics under KOL though I could put up with FOB for that. And just the appearance of Placebo on any line up is welcome. fat_man_joe
Id purely love that line up for the line "wheres the metal!?!"
Chavmeisterdeluxe
You could have a whole line up full of metal amd we'd still get the 'Werez the metalZ \m/ !!111' threads
jammy2211
Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but I totally agree with you if you weren't. It seems so many people on these forums are massive metal fans, and the whole forum would go berserk if that were to actually be the line up. However I bet it would still sell just as well (and be better, having a Sunday not full of the same band under different names would be just dandy)
rivalschools.price
is a bit of metal too much to ask??? i dont know about anybody else but after a few pints i like to rock out a bit!! i dont mind the mellower bands earlier in the day but i like the day to end with a ban.
