Next years headliners.

I've read that MCR are taking a short break before doing any new stuff. I think it could be 2010 that we see them headline. Though I also think the same of lostprophets and I don't see them both headlining at the same festival.

Reckon at some point over 2009, 2010, and 2011 we'll see MCR, Green Day and lostprophets headline a day in each of the years.

tah for the opinions... With Scars I'm basically relying on them getting bigger which I think there is a reasonable chance of... and yeah The Streets do seem too big for NME but dont think they would look right on main anymore as they would surely have to go a fair bit lower than third headline now. Rest I can see what you are going with.

Green Day are nailed on to do one day as are the Arctic Monkeys (first time headliners). This leaves either Green Day as the "heavy day" headliners, or leaves room for a "heavy day" headliner. I don't think AC/DC, Beastie Boys or Radiohead will, as if they wanted to they would have done by now. Of those three AC/DC are the most realistic choice though, seeing as they haven't released anything in the last 7/8 years which is why they wouldn't have played.

I'm going for Guns n Roses, Green Day and Arctic Monkeys.

well, we will know one of the NME tent headliners in January(?) cos it is always their 'God-Like Genius' Award winner now.

as for the rest, well, give me all of the following:

The Strokes, AC/DC, Weezer, Deftones, Slipknot, The Offspring, The Prodigy, Beastir Boys, Kings of Leon, RATM ( ), Kasabian, SOAD, Something Corporate, Frank Turner, Silversin Pickups, Atreyu, Billy Talent, Finch, The Chemical Brothers and Bob Dylan and i will be a happy boy.

Now then Melvin, you have your list. Off you pop with your cheque book

News just in.....

OK, the scoop on Reading/Leeds headliners next year are -

Green Day (definitely)

Muse (potentially)

Arctic Monkeys (possibly)

Oasis and AC/DC are no go's; Oasis don't want to do it and DC are just too much money, even for the Reading/Leeds organisers Festival Republic...........

Don't ask me how I know, I just do....

The Strokes headlined R&L in 2002 on the back of just one album, but the rumour I heard is that they were pencilled in for either 2007 or 08 and FR changed their mind because their 3rd album flopped a bit.

I don't think they're big enough to headline anymore tbh, they'll have to come up with something pretty great for album number 4 and they're still on hiatus right now...
