I saw the Foos four times during the In Your Honor era, including Leeds 05 and though the shows were samey they were all good. Saw them again in August 07 just before Echoes... was released and it felt similar to an IYH show. Then saw them in November 07 after Echoes... and it was so much different to the last five times. I hope they do Glasto where I'm planning on going, so I can see their acoustic set they've recently been introducing.

How about Queen + Paul Rogers, Van Halen and Aerosmith/Warrant?

I can dream can't I :P

My mate rekons Van Halen have a chance of playing with them just doing a reunion tour and Alex VH saying something about them trying new stuff, I dont share his optimism though.

Dont really understand all the mad oasis hate here. Personaly there my top band but cant really see them playing Reading these days. Can only imagine them playing Benicasim, coachella or V festival(obviusly be the mega money british festie exclusive)

Headliners for next year i imagine if Download dont get AC/DC i can see them here. Would love that as would be the chance to see AC/DC without paying madness for an arena show of there

Green Day are possibles aswell if they can get there act together and stop arsing around with there side project

Arctic Monkeys could have there 3rd album out by then and seeing as theyve not headlined before its a defo could

Cant think of many others that could do so next year as alot of typical reading and leeds bands have headlined the last few years with not alot of surprises

Think Kings Of Leon headlining would be good as i love there stuff, 4th album should be brilliant and not headlined this festie before either

lets just name all the bands that we can think of that could headline then when march comes around we can say that we got a headliner correct, here goes:

oasis, the verve, REM, kings of leon, beastie boys, the offspring, green day, reformed blink-182, foo fighters, muse, arctic monkeys, the strokes, the libertines (if pete isn't dead), the cure...............etc.

It's all a bit soon really... feel confident on the headliners though. Foo's headlining Glasto, Oasis at V / T, AC/DC do no festivals and MEtallica / Slipknot / Rammstein for Download.

One part I'm not sure on is Fall Out Boy could headline Download.

Also not sure on Kaiser Cheifs.... could see Kooks 2nd and someone else 3rd, just struggling to think of a suitable band at the moment.

There really does seem a glut of potential headliners with new albums or still touring for 2009 - Foo Fighters, Muse, Linkin Park, AC/DC, Kasabian, Kings Of Leon, Oasis, Radiohead, Kaisers, The Verve, Arctic Monkeys, Lostprophets The Strokes, Guns N' Roses, Green Day, Rammstein (I can dream :P).

I just don't think you can make an educated guess yet, albeit with so many huge bands around touring I can't see anyone like Kasabian or KoL getting a headliner slot like Franz or Razorlight - I think they were both just 'last resort' headliners.

I'd love to see Slipknot return in next year but can see them headlining Download and then coming back in second in 2010 as one of their last ever UK shows. Suppose they could do both as a Reading Special Guest or something, or just not announced until later like Lostprophets at V. We don't really know what shape or form Download will be in next year what with Donnington still not confirmed.

I really doubt the mainstage headliners will be of any interest to me, can see The Offspring about 4th from top and Deftones taking a high-ish slot which would please me though. Plenty of great bands who might be around too, Coheed and Cambria are due an appearance soon (Lock up headliner please!), Silversun PIckups will have a new album, Brand New too, think the festival will change a bit in line up type next year to be honest.

If you knew how big they are, then you would be able to see surely?

After 1 album they second headlined...after 2 albums they headlined glastonbury. After 3 albums you dont think they could top the strokes, who havent released anything popular for yonks. Crazy child.
