The wife/mother is only mentioned a few times, doesn't have any dialogue at all.

I noticed that in the trailer also and worried me straight away and makes me want to avoid the film.

I've also avoided the film version of The Time Travellers Wife because it looks overtly "romantic",and because I enjyed the book so much.

But then, i've yet to come across a great book which hasn't been hollywoodised.

Totally agree! I saw a couple of reviews that described it as a chick flick so immediately avoided it.

I'm going to have a ponder on books to films that really worked

Watched the double bill of Adam Sandler on GOLD last night, Wedding Singer and Mr Deeds. Ive seen them both before and not the best films but the guys great IMO.

Watched The Hurt Locker. Very good, not a classic war film like I was expecting but more of a drama, great character development and gives you a real sense of how scary it would be to be over in Iraq, very scary.

Anchorman is great, but it's not worthy of cleaning up the shit that hits the fan in Airplane.

Saw it over christmas. Superb film, certainly the best one that I saw from last year. You can see how James could become addicted to the adrenaline rush of diffusing the bombs, you'd have to be mad to do that job in the first place.

Just seen the Universal soldier sequel (straight to DVD) but was suprisingly good.

Also saw Moon the other day and loved it, Sunshine/2001 esque. Great way to while away a couple of hours.

Watched The Painted Veil on iPlayer tonight. Been meaning to watch it since it was in the cinema. One of the best films I've ever seen. Ed Norton is such a talented actor.
