Production is on hold because it's MGM studios who are financially f**ked at the moment, effectively banckrupt and can't find a buyer. Already cancelled the next 007 film.

The 2 Hobbits aren't due until 2012 and 2013 apparently

There were rumours a few months ago that some location/set stuff for the Hobbit was being done around here, but loads of filming gets done here so could've been other things.

Was reading this about Supercomputers by country and noticed that New Zealand has 6 of them! 6! What the hell does NZ need 6 supercomputers for? But when you click on it, 5 are at Weta digital. Weta digital has more supercomputers than Holland

Del Toro would have been perfect for The Hobbit.

Hellboy II is a good example - The scene where Hellboy and Abe drunkenly sing "Can't Smile Without you" and the scene where they go into the thriving magical city struck the right tone. The Hobbit would have suited the same sort of tone.

Gutted that Del Toro has left the Hobbit, just hope there is still some element of his style in the films

Oh, is it? I thought thor was 2011 and Captain America was 2012, not entirely sure though.

He's not directing though but think he's done the script and will be 'overseeing'. Hopefully he'll end up directing, all his films have been amazing.
