ACDC UK Tour 09

just seen some guy say on another forum that ac/dc headlining reading and leeds 2009 appeared in their news section on their website before it was very quickly taken down again?!?! can anyone else shed some light on this?

I was just about to post this. This is what was said apparently:

"In addition to the stadium shows recently added to their Black Ice World Tour AC/DC will also be headlining the Reading/Leeds festivals next August. Reading- 30th August

Leeds-28th August."

People seem to see an awful lot when they want to create a stir. Neil's not the kind of person to hide who he thinks is headlining.

Might still happen, but I highly doubt it.

Must add - ever since I can remember the friday night headliner (at Leeds) has been an exclusive, no English tour dates in the months leading up to it - don't see why that would change.

Pearl Jam played a show at the Astoria in April 2006. Metallica played at Download in 2003 (albeit an unannounced secret show).

I also imagine that Festival Republic would view AC/DC as a big enough draw to get them without worrying about their own shows drawing away from them. They're also the type of band I imagine that a lot of the Reading/Leeds demographic would want to see but wouldn't necessarily pay the £50+ to see them at their own show.

I was thinking that it was a no go, but punktastic got it from the ACDC website, one of those 'computer error' things were the website leaked a future news story before its officialy released...

I'm sure I remember there being plans of day tickets being dropped in 2009.

I don't see there being much scope for AC/DC doing another night at Wembley Stadium, and I would have thought them to be able to do multiple nights at a stadium. As it is I would definitely think that there is enough value in AC/DC being announced as headliners - though I would actually be quite surprised by it.

And I think we place far too much importance on trends in the line-up.

I definitely think it was a slip by someone. If they hadn't been signed up to play then why would a news piece go out on their site? (albeit by mistake)

Punktastic are usualy quite reliable. Probably had to take it down for the Wembley/Hampden shows that still need to be sold.Plus Reading/Leeds want to keep them secret.

Where have you heard this? I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but there is always talk of tightening restrictions.
