rhysieg
got fed up of all the thread on certain bands, this thread is purely for headliners... oasis and coldplay are now looking doubtful so make your predictions here... i think we could see a return for red hot chili peppers, havent played v since 03 (i think) and the arctic monkeys who have never played v. i think we could also see arcade fire headlining 2nd stage/jjb. the_hedge
Chilis are having a couple of years off from what I last heard, they need it after the disgrace which was Stadium Arcadium and that awful performance at Reading. Can't see V booking Arcade Fire for the 2nd stage, just not commercial enough for V. Arctics are a high possibility.
flossy_
Kasabian/Bloc party/Snow patrol/Faithless Placebo!?
kookye
Keane, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, Kasabian. Any combination of those 4. And if this is the case, I shall be selling me early bird ticket. I have really gone off V after this years shambles! I have hope it will better in 09, but with the current crop of acts making waves in the charts, I can't see the lineup being good enough to out-weigh the negatives. shoptildrop
I really think Arctics will do Leeds over V...but would like them to play V I reckon the possibilities are Razorlight Bloc Party or Faithless or Gorillaz Prince (I really can see him doing one festie next year and V pay) Franz Fernand (Ch4 stage) REM Travis Blur even possibly someone like Kylie or Britney or Justin Timberlake?! as they like their pop bubbles this is who I think might play not who I would really want - I wd like Arcade fire, tent headliner? gazza_20
I reckon summit like Saturday the killers Keane Sunday Coldplay Bloc Party though keane and bloc could both headline channel 4 but might be too small for bloc Edited November 21, 2008 by gazza_20

luckysalt
I would love Arcade Fire headlining the JJB Wonder if V will be able to get Orbital to play as they're reforming for their 20th anniversary next year, playing Big Chill the weekend before V, leaves it wide open for them to play, especially as they've played V quite a bit in the past, think its a possibility If V get Arcade Fire and Orbital headline each day in the JJB then the other stages can go f**k themselves

luckysalt
Arcade Fire have a new album out next year They'll be around the circuit Damon has announced Blur will be getting back together next year, and then they will decide after playing together in private if they feel they should do a tour, if they can stand each other enough, theres no doubt they'll be playing as many festivals as they can, so Id say Blur are a strong contender for headliner now

j...rox
Just realised everyone is touting Radiohead for headline slots at Glasto and Reading, yet nobody mentioned them for V. Its possible they could do a comeback isnt it?
Davness
Can't see it to be honest, they turned down Glastonbury last year because they didn't want to do it so soon after their last appearances, which was 2003. And it will only have been 3 years since their last appearance at V.
VCK
I reckon Radiohead will do Reading and Leeds. Since it seems very likely that two of the three headliners will be AC/DC and Kings Of Leon, they'll need a British headliner, and Radiohead seem to be the likeliest British band to do it, if only by default. Anyway, I reckon Green Day could headline V09. They certainly have the "mainstream" appeal and their new album is slated for release in Summer 2009. luckysalt
I can't see V getting Green Day or Arctic Monkeys White Stripes is another act who might be around next year I'd be shocked if V haven't booked The Killers again though

luckysalt
Arctic Monkeys are playing Highfield Festival in Germany V weekend in 2009 But the festival is a three day festival so if they play the Friday theres a chance they could play V, but to be honest its not looking good Id say they're nailed on for Reading and Leeds now http://www.fkpscorpio.com/highfield/festival_programm.asp heres the line up, it also includes Maximo Park and The Wombats, I didn't expect Maximo Park back, but I thought The Wombats were surely to play V this time around, so maybe they're playing Friday at Highfields on another note, loads and loads of festivals have started announcing their line ups, isn't it weird we in the UK won't be getting any of ours for around another 2 months at least

luckysalt
On the Killers they're already getting announced for a lot of festivals in Europe in 2009 including Rock AM Ring so they're definatly doing festivals in 2009, they played Reading last year, Id say Killers are a lock for V2009 Green Day on the other hand, im not so sure, they may just do their own shows and not any festivals at all looking at the festivals Placebo are also doing a lot of festivals in Europe hopefully, they'll make a long awaited return to V Edit to add Franz Ferdinand also look very busy boys in 2009, thats no surprise though, I can see them doing Reading or V, im leaning towards V Edited December 30, 2008 by luckysalt
