It was an opinion linked to you saying they could headline the mainstage whereas Smashing Pumpkins (who were easily bigger in the UK) didn't.

However you have subsequently amended that, so fair enough.

The Manics have never really gone away (at least that's what it feels like) and the Cure have been around for 30 years so have more of a legendary status.

they could definately headline glasto, obiovusly, they're not going to, but they could. i think they would be the main attraction for the majority of a glasto crowd.

The Cure do a more legendary status than the Manics, but I would say they have a lot of older fans that wouldn't want to go to a festival as much as the 16-21 year olds that pack Reading out.

I like The Cure, but I can't see them ever headlining a day at Reading on the Main Stage.

A - Because Melvin Benn understands their place in music.

B - There are a lot of teenagers out there with taste, believe it or not.

C - They're all massive in the US, which is a big factor in where they feature in Europe.

D - Because you love them.

Now they are headlining Coachella and the organisers are getting desperate... I agree they arn't big enough in terms of current mainstream appeal but if the organisers really are stuck they could do far worse and book lost prophets
