ATP 2009 Weekend One: The Fans Strike Back!

All Tomorrow’s Parties would like to announce that for ATP weekend 1 in May 2009 The Fans get a chance to prove themselves once more by curating half the line-up in, “The Fans Strike Back”. The event, which will take place from the 8th – 10th May at Butlins Holiday Resort will see half of the festival line-up chosen by ATP and the other half voted for by everyone that buys a ticket. To make things more interesting, we’ve also decided that at least for the first round of voting, no bands can be picked that have ever played a UK ATP event before!

Devo are one of the most important and successful post-punk bands and make a rare UK festival appearance for ATP. Legendary stoner rock band Sleep split up in 1998 after releasing two hugely influential albums. Members went on to form underground heroes High On Fire and Om. They reform for two performances at ATP as a world exclusive that will never be repeated.

Tickets to the event are on sale today from www.seetickets.com, www.stargreen.com, www.wegottickets.com, www.gigantic.com and www.lastminute.com.

Butlins, Minehead looks out across a superb sandy beach. The site is equipped with a supermarket, newsagent, cash points and restaurants. Onsite facilities include a cinema, Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a huge wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes and also a flume based raft ride - Ten-pin bowling and amusement arcade. Sports include Archery, Football, Basketball, Darts, Petanque, Fencing, Kwik Cricket, Netball, Rounders, Table Tennis, Outdoor Bowls and Crazy Golf.

Room Only accommodation is available in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 berths and offers either double, single or bunk beds with private bathroom and TV, but no kitchen facilities or lounge, more like a hotel room. (£150 + booking fee per ticket)

Self Catering accommodation is available in 4, 6 and 7 berths and offers private bathroom, full kitchen facilities and separate lounge area with TV. (£160 + booking fee per ticket)

All tickets include a 3-day festival pass and 3 nights accommodation. Ticket includes performances starting from mid-afternoon, with around 40 acts set to play live across the weekend. There are four pubs and DJ sets through till late, plus three nights in a self-catering chalet or room only accommodation all with private bathroom suites and TV’s.

Butlins Holiday Resort Minehead, Somerset , TA24 5SH is located near Glastonbury.

By road: Heading north the simplest route is to take the M5 to Taunton (Junction 25), then take the A358 and A39 to Minehead. Heading south on the M5, you can follow the signposts for the A39 from junction 24. Butlins Minehead Holiday Resort is just half a mile along the seafront road from Minehead town centre.

By train or rail: If you are travelling by train, the nearest main line station to Minehead is Taunton. A bus transfer service is operated by Southern National between Taunton Station and Minehead. This service is available at an additional cost. On Mondays to Saturdays, there's approximately an hourly service, with the last bus leaving Taunton Railway Station at 10:15 pm. On Sundays and Bank Holidays services run every 2 hours from 9:35 am - 9:35 pm. For general information call Southern National on 01823 272033. * ATP weekend 2 announced today for 2009 will run from 15th-17th May, and will be curated by The Breeders, who have already chosen Throwing Muses, Bon Iver and Teenage Fanclub amongst others for their line-up. Full info available on our website.
