Andrew_iow
welcome If you are camping the campsite opens on thursday at 12:00 (well has been fro the last x years!!) so book a ferry for some time thursday to get to the island and come and join in the fun for one more evening. Book as soon as possible though as they will be booking up now (and you might want to get a second morgage to pay for the ferry ticket if you are driving!!! if you coming as foot passenger only theres no need to book just turn up and bye a ticket at the ticket office) hope that helps
Lauz_Abbott
i try and get a really early ferry so i can get to the site and have a few drinks whlist we wait to go in normally open the site at about 11am-12pm. as for the cost - prepare yourself for a large chunk of money to pay out!!!! its expensive!! carpark at iow festival is free which is good but its a bit of a trek to the campsite!! russellelly
Thanks to Ming's tip some years ago I always pay for the ferry with Tesco Clubcard vouchers. You can pay for the fast foot passenger only ferry from Portsmouth for about £5 in Clubcard vouchers, and there's loads of buses from the ferry port on the island to the festival. Also last year I spent a night on the island at a B&B on the Wednesday night - ferries were much quieter and had a great day seeing a different side to the island. Maybe worth considering if you've some extra time.

Topshop Lass
Last year was my first time and it was brilliant apart fromt he fact it was pricey and cold lol! Spent around £200! My advice is to have a warm sleeping bag and plenty of clothes or develope an alco blacket!
Lauz_Abbott
i hardly spent anything last year - go to morrsons and stock up on booze so you can get drunk at the campsite.....then you only need a few drinks in the actual arena bit

Rich_chownsie
Not sure what your plans are princess, but I'd suggest camping down in White 1 (or 2) or whatever number they pick this year with these guys. Always seems to be someone about which is cool for the old security side of things and never short of a beer if needed! I think someone even left a stash behind last year!! Which ferry port is closer to you? Pompey is easy and good fun as you get all the early birds on the ferry who are up for the crack! Get your tent up on Thurs, then into town for Yates......(but dont allow me near the microphones!!!) There is a beer exchange on site as well (same with most festies) and it is less hectic than some due to there only being one main stage and the new tent. Never had a problem at the IOW - Guilfest is another story
Lauz_Abbott
You got to the Island earlier than I did last year and I still beat the pants off you to camp lol

Tomo18
Can you get a plane to IOW? Edited January 10, 2009 by Tomo18
Andrew_iow
only small private planes, there are no public flights.
carmenb
If you are on public transport don't bring any food or drink with you apart from a couple tins for the queue. Then as soon as the tent is up grab a bus into town to Morrison’s and grab all the booze and food there, sorted Oh remember the sun cream and the tent poles Lauz are you bring the pop up tent again?
