BlackHole2006
Hello, Next year, I am probably going to be going to leeds aswell as glastonbury, I've been to glastonbury once before and it was brilliant. I really don't know what to expect from leeds though. I've heared alot about how in reading tents get burned down on the sunday and that there is alot of rioting and stuff, and I was just wandering, does that kind of thing go on in leeds aswell? Cheers, BlackHole2006
Sparticus
I haven't been to glastonbury but have done quite a lot of festies. Leeds attracts a shitload of those hedonistic wannabe tear aways that burn shit because mummy and daddy gave them spending money and let them off the leash for a weekend (basically, the kind of people u see in programs like skins). The lineup's usually alright, but the way the pricing is going it wont be far off £200 for a weekend ticket next year, so may have to give it a miss, I like banter not little muppets that get slozzed too easy

BlackHole2006
I'll probably end up sleeping in one of the "Rougher" campsites cause I'm going with a load of uni students (I'm a 15 year old kid) and they'll probably want to be raving until like 7AM. Still really looking forward to it though and I've had worse, Would you wake up at 7AM just because you had to go and do a 10mile hike until 2 in the afternoon? ivan
Hi Next year will by my 9th Glasto and about 12th Leeds , so I know what I am waffling on about. Leeds has been going long enough at Bramaham to have well defined camp sites. If you want somewhere relaxed with plenty of space then head for Brown , its about 20 mins walk at most from the red campsite which is far nearer to Arena entrance. Of all the festivals I did last year , Brown at Leeds was the quitest by far , its so laid back !. I camp in Brown , but I am still rolling back to my tent around 6.00 am after a night of clubbing. Red is where the young kids hang out , yes it can get noisy , and no doubt kids may be falling on your tent or yelling bollocks into the early hours , but hey its a festival. The riots that you speak of are not riots. Basically on the Sunday night , every year some kids decide to burn their tents , you can almost set your watch by em. I am 42 and decided this year to go for a wander and watch em. All I can say is there are two things that would prevent it Camera Phones had not been invented The lads involved had pulled I was right in the middle of it , and at no time did I or people near me felt threatened. I am going to Leeds next year and I can tell you now where the so called riots will be , so just camp somewhere else. Its no different to a large city where you know certain pubs are best avoided at closing time. But remember at Leeds it is only 15 year old kids away from mum and dad for the first time. BlackHole2006
Thanks for that mate, really put a load off my mind. Luckily I've had a lot of experience being away from family, going to big cities by myself with alot of mates and camping by myself etc. So I won't be joining the "riots". But yeah I see what you mean, It's just the case of convincing about 10 drunken uni students that camping in brown is the right thing to do! It's gonna be a top time, can't wait now. BlackHole2006
^ Yeah to be honest with you though, I'm a nice guy and I hate all that kind of violent shit, I'm quite a weak person strength wise so that would kind of explain alot lol. All my friends beg to differ though and they would rather go to festivals like this and join in with the burning shit and stuff like that. Me, I'm more interested in the music side of it than anything. Cheers, BlackHole2006
vikinggriff
big thing to remember is that trouble always seems worse than it actually is, with over 50,000 people on the site there will be crime but your more lke to get people the 100's or so people affected post threads on forums than the vast majority who are totally unaffected all post threads to say they had a totally care free time. and from my experience red seems to have had the best comprmise for people partying/ time to relax of all the fields
danilson
I've camped in white the last couple of years. Gets pretty busy and you get a bit of noise from the Duracell tent etc. But always enjoyed the atmosphere on there and it is great only having to leave for the arena five or 10 mins before your band comes on stage! Monster trek with all the gear from the car park though!!!
