loosechange
Red List Live is a brand new species of festival for 2009. It will be held at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent on 19th, 20th and 21st of June and will accommodate up to 15,000 visitors.

eFestivals
i've just got hold of the company documents for both Red List Live Ltd and Zoo Thousand Ltd so that I could check out if the same people are involved. There's no names attached to either company that have involvement in the other company. The only similarity is the locality of some of the people involved, but that's hardly surprising - people tend to get involved in stuff in their local area. I think perhaps the guy who posted above is confused by the role of the "Festival Coordinator, Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks". While I don't know this for certain, I suspect he had no actual involvement in the running of the festival itself, and his job was to work with the festival organisers to ensure that the running of the festival didn't impact, or impacted as little as possible, onto the smooth running of the zoo itself. eFestivals has been naturally suspicious about this new fest because of the disaster that was last year's fest. However, there's nothing we've discovered which indicates that any of the same people are involved.
InTheBand
I hope not! I think I will wait for next year before going, just in case! But do wish them all the best, we need more local festivals!!! Saving my money for beautiful days!!
JennyDB
Hi In the Band, Thanks for your post. I can see why you’ve asked the question, and would agree that the wording on our site is a little confusing, so we have decided to change this a little to clear things up. It should be stated that Red List LIVE has nothing to do with the organisers of Zoo Thousand and Eight or its promoters. As eFestivals have very accurately explained, Ms Eddie Hill is Events Co-ordinator at The Aspinall Foundation, the charity that runs Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. Her role is to liaise with any outside promoter that puts on an event at Port Lympne, which meant that she had no involvement in the running of Zoo Thousand. Eddie’s role does however mean that she is responsible for the running and organisation of any event that The Aspinall Foundation host themselves at Port Lympne, hence she is now festival director of Red List LIVE. A lot of reliable contractors work in Kent, so we may end up employing some of the same contractors as ZOO8 did, furthermore we want Red List LIVE to be a festival run by local people, for local people. We will be making a formal announcement about our plans for the festival in the next few weeks, but we’re happy to answer any questions before then! Hopefully when we do, we will be able to alleviate a few of your concerns - we hope to see you in the Summer, but if not, you’ll be more than welcome the year after. All the best, Jenny
loosechange
I'm sure you can see why people are a bit concerned if Eddie Hill thought Zoo8 was "such a success".
loosechange
I see some questions have been asked on the Facebook page and met with personal abuse - nice. Seems any further questions will be deleted! Remind anyone of a previous festival first deleting comments then taking their forum offline entirely? JennyDB
Yeah, just seen that! Plenty of questions they may have deemed 'awkward' have already been censored, or met with a barrage of 4 letter abuse! Nice! And the admin & friends of admins are sooooo rude and dismissive! They are going the right way to a boycott. Have they never heard of PR?
loosechange
I can't keep trying to convince you both that Red List LIVE is a new festival, if you've made your mind up there is not much I can do, however if you have any questions I am happy to answer them! Marshall
I wanna go but mainly for wedding present so might just do the friday. Are wedding present headlining that stage? if so what time are they expected to finish, just wondering if i could get home or at least to tonbridge via ashford afterwards. All depending on who else plays the rest of the weekend of course. then of course I'd camp, I doubt camping for 1 night is an option. JennyDB
I've had a look - got a quick question: does the Thursday night camping charge apply to campervans too, or is that included in the price of the campervan pass? Thanks.

5co77ie
Monday night there's a tv programme on about Aspinall the guy whose family owns the zoo. Channel 4 claims to lift the lid on John Aspinall on Monday in a special programme as part of its Toffs and Crims series. The Real Casino Royale at 9pm on February 23, looks at the man behind two of Kent’s best known tourist attractions, and who lived in a large house within the grounds of his Howletts Park in Bekesbourne. The show claims the man who made his fortune through gambling allegedly teamed up with shady characters to further line his pockets – claims angrily denied by his family. loosechange
It didn't take much Googling to discover some previous "interesting" enterprises the Zoo8 promoters were involved in (not to mention the Zoo8 shambles itself!) but I would guess they're not the shady characters the programme's on about, ha ha... loosechange
Actually, a bit more Googling reveals that the guy who's all over the official Facebook page for the festival was a booker for Zoo8... ho hum. Kent News are at pains to point out "Red List Live organisers have made it clear they have nothing to do with the ill fated Zoo Thousand festival". But so far we have someone who last year claimed Zoo8 was "a success" on board as Festival Director, and now it turns out another character from Zoo8 created the "official" Red List Live Facebook page and I would guess is presumably involved in organising Red List Live at some high level? I'm having trouble reconciling the "nothing to do with the ill fated Zoo Thousand festival" statement with the personnel of Red List Live, with at least two of the cast of Zoo8 on the team. I do realise I sound rather cynical but having been royally ripped off last year I'm in no rush to be taken for a muppet again - I'm sure you can appreciate this. The fact that members of the Red List Live team are on record as defending Zoo8 worries me immensely - it might just be well-meaning naivety about what a proper festival takes to run though, I'm prepared to accept. I'll take a look at the headliner announcement tomorrow with interest - I'm certainly intrigued - but with only 3% of the claimed bands announced so far I think I'll hold off committing my hard-earned to a ticket just yet until I've a better idea of who might be playing.
