On the Sunday we will not get back to the campsite till early hours after Solstive, however I quite fancy this

Southern Comfort is a day boat, which holds up to a recommended maximum of 8 people. She has a galley equipped with microwave, kettle

and connection for your own cool box, with hot & cold water facilities. Ideal for picnics.

Large cushioned seating area with removable table and a cloakroom

with toilet and wash hand basin.

Prices start from £85.00 and vary depending on which day of the season

the boat is required.

A relaxing day trip on the canal can make it a memorable day for any occasion be it anniversary, special birthday, works outing or just something different to do with family or friends.

Ha ha ha ha ha...

Good one

No, definitely no rush  Found it torture to leave last year when I was dragged away too early for my liking by the people I was giving a lift to...

So definitely don't want to be rushing off, want to eeek out every last drop of camping fun, but just for reference remember I'm a driver too - we can always share driving duties if needs be/if you like...

Sorry, I've been dilly-dallying with a response to this!

My main concern was getting to and fro without a car. I have established that it is possible to get to the campsite from Pewsey Rail Station and in turn possible to get from Pewsey to Castle Cary or Bristol Temple Meads and to Pewsey from London Paddington etc... So that's issue one sorted. The next is getting to and from Avebury and the campsite. Paul, you mentioned taxi's. Does anyone know how good the service is round that area?

I'm worrying too much, I know.

So.... after all that hmming and hawwwing....

Count us in for Avebury please! Two people, 1 tent. We'll sort out what we're doing about Glastonbury on Monday seperately, so our appaling slowness at decision making doesn't hold anyone else up.

Is there any other info you need from us Paul?

Thanks so much for organising this.

Will find out about taxis, am sure we will all need to get to the Solstice celebrations at Avebury so will look into this once got definate numbers going

Also getting around from place to place will be sorted out, quite a few have cars and people can get picked up/dropped off at stations etc as required.

Cool added you both, be nice to see you there.. and yeah everyone will be sorting out Glasto camping on their own

I was thinking more about coming back after 5 a.m. I know that personally after a long night I'm more likely to fall asleep in a ditch than manage a 7-8 mile walk. Also, soon to be starting physio for a back problem which affects my nerves and hurts like crazy sometimes when I walk. In an ideal world this wont be an issue come June, as obv it's going to make pottering about the festival difficult, but I can't know that for sure. I just hope it gets better. More reason, in my head not to overdo it beforehand, but we really want to celebrate the solstice and hang out around Glastonbury before the festival. Get out of the smokey confines of London and just live.

Wouldn't want to walk on the way back. No doubt i'll be hammered and exhausted. Do you think taxi's on the way back would need to be booked well in advance? There's bound to be quite a few folks wanting them and I would think not too many running.
