2 Headliners certain to grab the attention

Having read who everyone thinks will headline V this year I think we all (well 90% of us) seem to know its 4 of the following:

Blur, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Oasis, The Killers, Green Day, U2, Robbie Williams and Razorlight.

Noone seems to have mentioned the publicity the festival would receive having Oasis and Blur on separate nights as the main stage headliners. Its easy to forget that the fans of these bands are now in their early 30's and represent the way the main stage has been going in recent years with the younger bands headlining the channel 4 stage. For me having these 2 bands on would make this the festival noone could put on in the 90's. And both would up their performances to prove to both the new audiences they could attract and those who are familiar with their back catalogues who really were the better band.

I'd personally love to see Pulp reform, they were always excellent live and would go down well.

Razorlight would make me a happy lady, as would Greenday. I;m seing Oasis and Kasabian in june so not that fussed if they play V or not. Don't get me wrong think they are great but as i'm seeing them a few weeks before would be nice to see someone else headline.

to be honest, none of them are that appealing.

Razorlight shouldnt headline

Snow Patrol and The Killers played in 07

Green day aren't really my cup of tea

Oasis and Coldplay are doing massive shows so it's not as if they'd be hard to catch this year

i want them to go for someone that isn't touring and is pretty much there exclusively...

Not that fussed about either of them, but it would certainly add some interest.

I remember the debate when they were first competing for top spot - most of my group of friends liked one and hated the other, and the arguments in the pub were endless.

I think Oasis have been the bigger band over all, but now I get the impression that Blur would be just as popular (absence makes the heart grow fonder?).

Bit of a Britney/Christina thing, where Britney was the massive sensation until her life unravelled and Christina started to produce some reasonably good stuff. I think she has the greater acclaim nowadays.

A case from the list above would be U2.

There was a huge U2/Simple Minds divide back in the day.

No doubt in my head that Simple Minds had the hits and following at one point. But they faded and U2 became probably the biggest group in the world!

Today, U2 would obliterate Simple Minds. Christina would outdo Britney (although one on each night at a festival would pull some crowds for both). And, as much as they're not my taste, Oasis and Blur WOULD be a real dual, and create loads of interest - about equal I suspect?

Oasis are at Isle of White

Greenday at Reading (seemingly)

My gut tells me U2 will not play because they dont really do festivals

Robbie Williams hasn't played a show in yonks and has gone crazy

So that Leaves The Killers, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Blur and Razorlight.

I would put my money on Blur and The Killers.

razorlight surely one, borrell isn't going to get his glasto headline slot i cant see so surely he will push for the headline slot at a fest that best suits him.

the killers did glasto two years ago so wont go there, v is a good shout if a little soon, kol only did reading in 2007 and back again in 2009? maybe different headlining.

oasis no, green day no

razorlight and blur/killers i reckon

Hmmmm so logic says

Blur, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Oasis, Razorlight

Snow Patrol i would have down as certainties same with Razorlight they will have to headline one festival this year & as they headlined other stage a xouple of years they will see this year as their time. Oasis & Coldplay gotta be V favourites, both played previously, coldplay played loads of V in early days.

No way for U2, RW, Killers or Green day

Razorlight will have split up by August. Anyway with the last album stiffing they're out.

I think V will have gone for Coldplay & U2. It just depends whether the lure of the lucre swayed Bonio's head. if it doesn't then Blur are probably next on the list.

But that persistent Madonna rumour is worrying me. Her on the top of the bill for her customary taped half-hour with a Snow Patrol, keane or Scissor Sisters on before.

They'd've liked greenday I'm sure but that seems out now.
