Commuting to work on Friday?

Hi, just looking for bit of advice as to practicality of an idea I've had!

I teach and so have to work on the Friday. Last year I drove straight down from work on Fri from South Wales, was really easy, only took about an hour and my friends had already set up days previously.

But I feel bit cheated by this so am considering coming down on the Thurs after school, enjoying my Thurs night down there, then commuting back to work on the Fri morning early.

Just wondering how easy it is to get off site once you're parked and also, what is traffic like arriving at teatime on Thurs, as my plan isn't worth it if I have to queue for hours in the car!

I know the advice will be to call a sickie, but as a teacher I def won't do that, esp as everyone in school knows I go down to Glastonbury every year!!

Don't know about commuting but..

Call in sick on the monday before. Then stay off all week. You can self certify for 7 days (inc weekend). Less obvious than taking the friday off sick. Jobs a good 'un.

The last couple of Big G's have been totally packed by Thursday afternoon and there will be bugger all traffic problems on an early Fri am. Stay and enjoy Thurs, get away unfeasibly early to scoot back to S Wales and then say bye bye to the kids at the end of the schoolday by telling them 'right...I'm going back to Glasto have a nice weekend folks!!!'Narf!

We left the site on Thurs arvo in 04 to go back to London to go and see Orbital at Brixton academy and got back at 6am Fri morning. Yes we had lost the original car park space but to be honest it worked in our favour because, altho we had a longer trek to the car at the end, it was much nearer the exit and above the muddiness.
