I believe they'll give you access to the (not full of freebies) 'hospitality' area in the restricted compound between the Pyramid & Other Stages, and you'd be able to camp in there too (providing it's not already full).

In that area are further restricted compounds (such as the BBCs), the press tent (nowt exciting happens there), and the (not free) hospitality tent/bar, where you might get to glimpse the occasional famous person if you want to spend your time missing the festival while sat in that tent.

IMO, the best things about having access there is camping in a very central spot (if that's what you want to do of course), and having a few extra ways of getting about the site via cutting thru that backstage area. The toilets cleanliness and provision are perhaps (relatively) slightly better too.

IMO, the worst things about it is that it may be full of the sorts of people you'd rather not spend your festival around, and that because it's in the lowest part of the site it's the part that suffers worst if it rains (it was properly flooded - inches, maybe feet, deep in whatever year it was fairly recently that there was the huge thunderstorm on the Friday morning).

I have access due to my job. I choose to camp elsewhere and choose to visit only for work. Others of course have different opinions.

I've done 3 years of backstage ligging albeit not for the last few years and Neil's post is totally spot on. There are a few limited upsides e.g. the only year I haven't been in recent years was 2004 due to being in Portugal watching Euro 2004 but my wife went with a couple of mates using my hospitality passes and was camped next to a big tent being shared by (amongst others) Damian Rice and Neil from Divine Comedy - both of whom were apparantly a top laugh
