Which festivals?

Problem!

I have 3 festivals in mind for 2009.

1)V - coz its fun, familiar and always had a great time there.

2)Glasto - never been (somehow) but the one British festival I will do before I give up.

3)Rock am Ring - great feedback and lineup, never been either.

a)My mate is expecting tickets to Glasto as freebies from a "source", but I'm least likely to like the line up.

b)RaR is probably gonna get the best line up by far for me, but is the same time as Glasto.

c)V looks like having crap headliners but I know I will enjoy the festival anyway, rain or shine.

Havent got the time/money to do all 3.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

I have done 5 V festivals and this year will be my 3rd Glastonbury.

There is absolutely no question in my mind which one you should go to. Glastonbury kicks the shit out of V!!!!!

V is a gig in a field, the most important thing about V is the line up. You will already know that there isn't much else there to do and you have to be back at your tent after the headliners. I shan't be going again!

Glastonbury is a festival, the line up does not matter. With over 50 stages and 1000 acts you will not be short of entertainment. The entertainment goes on until 6.00am (which is when they stop selling booze at the bars!), you can take your own booze, none of this searching your bags shit! You will actually have an experience at Glastonbury. There is so much to see and do you actually get more for your money than at V.

If you enjoy V then your head will explode at glastonbury

However if it is just music you want to see and are happy to jump between stages then V is easier.

Rock AM Ring I know nothing about so I can't comment on it.

i haven't been to glasto (hoping to amend that), but went to the ring! The germans put us to shame when it comes to having a party, and their friendly nature makes you feel a bit ill when you think about our own culture lol. But yer good times, it's quite concrete based though what with the racetrack lol, and the main stage is massive but very narrow, so if you think that would be an issue consider rock im park which is supposed to be a grass based layout (sod's law says if you go to the grass one it will piss it down all weekend  ). Also got the advantage of having bands playing later, some of my mates weren't too keen on that but i'd rather the bands finish later than 11 like in the uk fests, just gutted i didn't have the dough to see prodigy there last year!
