This gives you an idea how long your battery should last you.

You're hardly going to be watching TV for two hours a day at Glasto, or have your lights on for five hours a day or using a hairdyer / kettle / three bar fire, so you should be fine for the duration if your sensible. If you do run your leisure battery down, you can always run your engine for a bit during the daytime to top it up again - not the most friendly solution, granted.

With gas, as parsonjack says, you'll easily be able to run your fridge 24 hours a day for the duration but you could switch the gas off overnight for example - I do this anyway because I'm paranoid about the fridge ignition failing while I'm asleep. :)

A handy tip is to take a 12V cool box too, get it chilling on the drive down and then you can bung stuff in there and keep it cool if you need to conserve gas / run out, or need extra beer capacity.

Ideally your fridge will be three-way anyway, so run it off the mains the night before to get it nice and cold, switch to (engine) 12V on the drive down to keep it that temperature (don't forget to switch it off when you get there!) and it should stay cool for a while before you need to fire up the gas when you get there.

Your leisure battery will last all weekend if you are careful:

Dont leave lights on

Only cook & heat water with gas

Use a watering can to fill your kettle, washing up bowl etc

Your fridge will only work on gas without EHU

Try not to use the TV

No hairdryers etc

A 12v coolbox will drain a leisure battery in a few hours

Hi

We're thinking of taking a 2nd leisure battery this year just in case - although we didn't have any problems last year. We also stick a couple of solar shower bags on the roof, and drop the shower head thru the roof vent to supplement the hot water for showering.

We take frozen bacon and in a cool box to supplement the fridge - and help with space.

You can buy fresh milk on the site. And candle light is much more atmospheric.....

If it is your own motorhome it is worth investing in a solar battery charger. We have a flexible one that works thru the window and in even part sunlight, it clips on to the battery with croc clips and works very well. There is a stall in the green fields area which sells them. We bought ours about 7 years ago and wouldn't be without it now.

One really good tip is to take all your food frozen in a good quality cool box. Only open once a day to get your rations out for the next day. Keep it in the shade and cover with a foil emergency blanket (found in good first aid kits). That leaves your fridge free for booze :P. Your food will stay safe for the whole weekend.

Have used this method many times camping for 4 days at Silverstone for the Grand Prix.
