rock acts / dance acts

so this thread is like the hip hop/rnb thread, v usually have 1 or 2 rock band and 1 or 2 dance bands within the plethora of indie and pop.

what rock/dance bands would you want and which ones do you think will play?

i reckon faithless and basement jaxx are both likely, both are big favourites with the v booking staff also having played many fests over the years.

id love to see the beastie boys/daft punk/lcd soundsystem though, but i wont hold my breath.

I think we will get some from the following

Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Orbital, Pendulum, Justice, Digitalism, Klaxons

can't see Crystal Castles being booked for V, Prodigy and Chems played last year so they won't be there, as I posted above Friendly Fires at Reading Leeds, Groove Armada have said they're not doing any major festivals this year

I reckon we have the most likely chances of Faithless, Pendulum and Justice

think Orbital have a chance of getting booked if they want to do it, but I think they're already playing too many, Basement Jaxx might be a bit too soon and not sure where they would fit in the line up although they could headline JJB, Klaxons I think might be back at Reading

In terms of 'rock' acts, we don't really get any

we might get some pop rock acts like All American Rejects & Biffy Clyro

Ash would be nice as well

in terms of bands more popular with the "rock" crowd, i could see the gaslight anthem as a possibility this year, though with all bands of that sort id think theyre more likely to do reading than v.

I also just thought maybe The Subways will finally choose V over Reading and Leeds this year, they are playing some European festivals again this year, and surely they can't play Reading AGAIN

Also band back on the scene this year, I know they're an indie band but...

The Rakes, would love them at V

i agree on the rakes, surely theyll be doing the festivals this summer what with the new album out in march. dont think theyd require a very big spot either, their stock seems to have dropped quite considerably. possible union headliner in fact.

reckon british sea power could do v this year as well after doing pretty much every festival other than v last year. mystery jets as well, surely its about time they did a vfest. maybe a return for jarvis cocker as well, i think he has a new album out this year, though probably more likely for reading as he did v in 07.

not really bothered about British ea Power, never got into them, and haven't really listened to Jarvis' solo stuff

Hope The Rakes aren't Union headliner! would rather them in the JJB or Channel 4 somewhere during the late afternoon/early evening

Don't rule out The Prodigy - V often book big acts 2 years running (i.e. Kasabian 2nd Stage headliners to 2nd on Main Stage following year).

Would also like Basement Jaxx or The Klaxons.

Don't really believe there are mainly great Rock acts out there at the moment (we need a new wave fast) - shame Wolfmother split so quickly really......

Just Jack has a new album out this year, just played his new track on radio 1, played V a couple of times before, can see him there again this year

Personally i want Pendulum in the JJB tent on the fri or sat headlining. It will be crazy in there.
