Metallica supported The Rolling Stones a few years ago in San Francisco, neither of these bands are in the same league as Metallica. I know Reading isn't exactly going to get that, but Arctic Monkeys are another band like the Strokes that will have their day and disappear. Unfortunately, the Strokes headlined, so Arctic Monkeys probably will too!

I mean I'm no Arctic Monkeys megafan but to say they'll be forgotten about in ten years is ridiculous. Maybe they'll go the way the Manics did and still be popular but not as popular and adapt to playing smaller venues, or they could be like Oasis and still play massive stadiums nearly two decades into their career. Either way, when people in ten years will hear someone years say "British Rock from the 2000s", Arctics will be the first band to come to many people's minds.

I'm fairly sure Muse would be the first band in that case, which is fair enough, even though I have got a little bored with them now. I didn't say they will be forgotten, I just said they will fade away. If they don't headline this year then they will have missed their chance, there is no way The Strokes would headline now (or The Darkness if you want to take it to extremes). I'm sure they are a good band, but people are generally very fickle and fashions change quickly, only truly great bands (like Metallica) will survive through these changes in fashion.

Arctic monkeys have made a far bigger impact and sold far more records in this country than muse and i am someone who would much preefer to watch muse than the am but you cant hide from the truth. Your casual musci fan who maybe buys 5 albums a year will be far more likely to add an arctic monkeys album to their collection than a muse one just as they would have previously bought an oasis one. I dont own an arctic monkeys album and not sure id see them live but they are clearly a band who will be around for the long term. I hate it when people(usually people who dont like indie) come up with this ridiculous notion that a band are on the wane because they havent been talked about for a while when most of the time the reason for that is they havent released any material. I think for the organizers to get a band with the popualrity of the am to the festival would be a senible idea.

Look's like Punktastic's been shut down, something to do with somebody on the forum linking to the new Green Day song, followed the next day by a letter from Warner Brothers threatening legal action.
