mmmh granted they might not be doing festies as you did shot that down previously, but are your saying articles today are completely unfounded/pretend? as this reunion seems more and more likely - I know I'm completely hoping here and the reports today are reviving it as would sooo love this to happen..

it's not all of them.

In fact, I get the impression that the 'announcement' has been made to try and tempt those that aren't interested out of retirement via the interest that gets shown in the announcement in places such as this. It's certainly the case that a few months ago few of the band were interested, and I don't see why that'll have suddenly changed.

I fear you're right, the band seem to be past the hatred for each other, but it won't happen. Didn't Coachella supposedly throw a lot of money at them for them to play?

hmmmmm ..... I'm not sure their 'issues' are something they'll ever get past, and if I'm understanding the reasons right it's very far from surprising.

I interviewed Chris Frantz once, and just the mention of TH had him tightening up..... as Tina is his wife, I'm sure their feelings about things will be similar. There might have been a time when they might have considered doing it for the money I guess, but they got seriously enriched (more money than they'd earnt in all of the rest of their career according to Chris) when Maria Carey sampled Tom Tom Club for her biggest selling album and one of her biggest selling hits.

I'm not sure that Jerry would be that interested in doing it either, as he now has a very successful producing career.

As for David Byrne, why would he want to? He appears to have exclusive rights to performing the TH songs (:P), and is still having a very successful solo career.

I've not heard any suggestion that they've been offered a lot to reform, tho it doesn't surprise me - 6music recently did a poll on which band should reform, and TH came out top. I'll have to send off a few mails to a few excellent contacts I have, and get the details about any offer from Coachella (which I'm sure I'll get :)).

I know ^_^

Although having seen the Tom Tom Club at Meltdown last summer, and with tickets to see David Byrne in April, I'm keeping myself nearing satisfied.

I was at TTC @ Meltdown too (and their only previous UK show for 20 years in Camden about 8 years ago). And I'm seeing Byrne at least twice this year (in March, and at Big Chill). I'm addicted. :P
