Neil Young Vs Bruce Springsteen

Crazy Horse is a much better name than the E Street Band so Neil Young should win on that alone.

Thats said Neil Young has but some pretty dodgy lyrics together in his time and has a voice thats best descibed as unique

A wiser fella than myself once said

"Bruce makes you think you, too, can be as great as he is; Neil makes you think he is really no better than you are to begin with"

which is a pretty even handed description

However i am not even handed, Thunder Road sounds like Bat out of Hell and Neil Young so obviously the better act.

The only thing connecting them is both sing, play guitar (well) and write some of the best songs in the "rock" canon. And they are white and male. Their musical styles are worlds apart! I've seen both - Bruce much more than Neil - all I can say is if Eavis pulls this off he will have surpassed everything he's achieved so far.

You can't really speak about Bruce as a solo artist at the minute. The E Street Band are just as much a part of his performances as he himself is and seeing as whoever Neil Young may have playing with him (as I have no idea who that would be) they're clearly not going to outdo the E Street Band and for that reason, amongst many others, Bruce wins. :)

There can't be many more glorious things than hearing the piano of Jungleland being played, hearing Bruce sing the opening few lines, building up the first "Downnn In Junglelaaaaand"...

Bittan's dramatic piano part on Born to Run's epic nine-and-a-half minute anthem "Jungleland" is widely viewed as one of the great keyboard performances in rock music history.

... (Although Bittan did play keyboard on Bat out of Hell :O )

Bruce all the way for me, greatest live act of all time imo, fantastic songwriter ,this guy has songs that he hasnt even put on outtake albums of the actual albums that are far better than what most of the other tripe at glastonbury can write, criminally underrated guitarist, can play rings around lots of newer bands, its just a shame really that a lot of people think that the only song he has ever written is Born in the fukin USA, this guy has written over 500 songs. Im also partial to a bit of Neil Young as well though but imo he doesnt compare with the boss.

And for those people who say that he cant play guitar check this vid out, I think the top poster has got it spot on tbh, bout 2.10 in

:O

Morning Red,

Well.. I posted about that in another thread.

So he might have done that, there are some issues who points at it might have been a mime on the instrument part, but theres also the fact that there where feedback problems on some of the instruments and that the fire works where slightly out of sync.

But looking at Miami Steve playing guitar during BTR it sure looks like a mime.

Maybe, you are lucky and who ever put`s on the pre-recorded at Glasto, puts on radio head instead?

Whats so great about radio head, if I can ask? Do you think the boys look good?

The Boss would kick Neil's ass in a fist fight.

However if it came to a sword fight with Guitars then Neil would have the upper hand, waving his Gibson like a broadsword. But one slip up and the boss would finish him with a thrusting telecaster to the chest.

Musically though I don't have a view...... :D
