Well, not necessarily. If I say I don't believe in God for example, and that offends someone who DOES believe, should I apologise?

Or that I think keeping birds in cages is wrong, and this offends someone with loads of birds all held captive in teeny cages - should I apologise?

Sometimes you have to stand up for your principles, not mindlessly apologise if someone takes offence. Otherwise where does it end?

I think most comments were intended to be lighthearted and jokey. I doubt anyone will actually get date raped as a result of this thread.

I would hardly say that this thread is based on anyones 'principles'.

I haven't been offended, some people have. This makes me sad.

By the way, I don't, nor ever have, read or agreed with anything in the Daily Mail. Just in case anyone was worried for a moment.

I do like this forum for it's generosity of spirit and kindness, but sometimes people just have to let the wicked side of them free!

What a coincidence, I just happen to be going to Glastonbury with two generous lady friends (i.e. slags) who would love nothing more than getting away from the tedium of the festival for a night of awkward fumbling with an 18 year old virgin.

if i actually was pointing someone out and being offensive towards them then yes, i would.

however, i jokingly asked if there were any slags

i jokingly condoned the use of rohypnol

i jokingly created this thread

im still glad there are some people out there that are quite happy to have a laugh

and not take offense whatever chance they can...is that really the best way to live your life?

you must be on edge quite alot if a thread like this offends you.

Neeeeeedles, the issue is not if you take offence but the lack of sensitivity.

I am great at taking jokes and will be the first to say I saw the funny side of this thread and the ramifications of your quest.

However in the best will in the world you have to understand that the use of the word slags was insensitive to say the least to a large majority of woman on here.

The condoning of rohypnol was even more insensitive as it reinforced your perceived view of woman as objects to be taken advantaged of.

Now, I am sure you did not mean this to come across this way and as you say, "it was said in jest", however these are public forums with a wide spectrum of people colours and creeds.

You may also say "well if you don't like it don't read it or comment", but again, many would feel compelled. It is as simple as that. People are people.

So if you do not wish to apologise, and I would not suggest you do anything, just be aware that the sensitivities of others could be offended by what you type.

I have been branded as a 'man slag' because the last three times I have been out on the town I have gone home with a different woman - I'm newly single, and I'm taking precautions and having some fun which is apparently alright if you're a bloke.

Although I'm not that way inclined, if you're mates get really desperate during their stay at Glastonbury I could be a good back up plan for some 'slag' shenanigans

The word slag will not offend most women - for anyone that has been out on a saturday night will have seen these loose ladies and have probably used the word at some point themselves, lets not get so defensive when a man (boy rather) says it.. especially when it's in jest. Everyone found the thread funny until someone got offended, then were drawn to be defensive for the offended parties... come one, thats offensive to women in its self...

As for Rohypnol, neeeeedles as we already know didn't use the word first - using the word Rohypnol and genius in the same sentance must be a piss take (or of course he is seriously screwed)
