i'm quite tempted by this, the friday looks really good! Just got back from rock werchter and was amazed at how easy it was to watch all the bands up close and that the belgians have the sense just to watch the band rather than crush the shit out of each other in a big crowd lol, guessin this is the same? Heard about the free travel as well, what dates is this valid from (trying to do as many festivals as possible with but the monies situation isn't great lol), as flights from manchester to charleroi are cheap as chips.

Anyone know when a full timetable will be out? Also recommendations for saturday and sunday, as the music looks a bit thin on top (maybe that's my ignorance lol), i'll listen to pretty much anything! f**k it, book madness as one of the final acts and i'll book my ticket now!

@ Siannnn: Last two years have been dry and pretty sunny thoughout but who knows what's in store this year??? The law of averages says that we should expect some rain but from what I've heard about the friendly atmosphere in the campsite I'm sure some locals would help you out if your tent wasn't up to the job

@ Sparticus: Your ticket is valid for free travel from the day before it starts (Wednesday 19th) to the day after it finishes (Sunday 23rd). I haven't been to RW before but bear in mind it's only got 2 stages and 80,000 people a day compared to 8 stages at Pukkelpop with 45,000 people each day so you'll have no bother getting to the barrier for pretty much every band.

I've had a look through last years thread and the timetable was released on the 14th July so with a bit of luck we should know sometime next week.

The stage breakdowns are now on the official website but there's no times yet. It looks like they are in playing order though so it's possible to see where a few clashes might take place. I've most likely got a horrible three way clash early on Thursday as Howling Bells, The Juan Maclean and Golden Silvers are all listed as playing second on their respective stages. Based on last years timetable, they would all be playing at exactly the same time which would be a nightmare :D

I'm a bit surprised My Bloody Valentine and Dizzee Rascal are both playing the Marquee instead of the Main Stage but it should be jumping in there when Dizzee comes on. I'm also really pleased that Kraftwerk will be bringing procedings to a close on Friday night on the Main Stage, it should be epic! Saturday night in the Chateau is officially dubstep night and I reckon I'll be spending a fair bit of time moving between there, the Club and the Marquee to see the likes of Rusko, Florence and the Machine, the Bug, Klaxons, Little Boots, Magnetic Man and the Whitest Boy Alive.

As with previous years I reckon I could go to Pukkelpop three times over and not see the same band twice - roll on the 20th August :(;):P

I've heard that Snoop Dog has recently been announced for Lowlands, does anyone think he will be announced for Pukkelpop?

I'm not really a fan but would be good for comedy value.

I can't really see an act that big fitting onto the line up though.

Has anyone got any ideas who else will be announced and when?

Thanks

I very much doubt Snoop Dog will be announced for Pukkelpop. The organisers of the two festivals seem to be trying to offer something different at the top of their bill this year; we've got Kraftwerk, the Offspring, 50 Cent, dUES, My Bloody Valentine, Placebo, Snow Patrol and N*E*R*D whilst Lowlands have the Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Lily Allen, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, 2ManyDJs, Bloc Party and of course Snoop Dog. There's a lot of overlap lower down the bill but in previous years the entire line up's have been almost identical. Maybe it's just the way it's worked out with different band's schedules, as there's obviously other festivals going on around Europe that weekend, but it does seem to be that the two festival's are running in competition with each other more this year.

It's been on the website for a week or so now but they've announced the comedy line up for the Wablief? tent. I've never actually made it in for a show as that's the only time I've ever seen any of the tents full with a queue outside so I can't say what they are like (although they must be alright if people queue up every year to get in ;) ). I don't even know if the comedians do their shows in Dutch or English so maybe I'll have to try and make an effort this year to get in for one of them.

They've also announced two acts for the Marquee. Selah Sue will play on the first day and Alberta Cross on the second. I'm hoping there might be some news today or tomorrow on the rest of the line up as there's still a few gaps to be completed, particularly on Saturday. I don't think we'll see any big names though, just fillers at the bottom of each stage but hopefully I'll be wrong!

I still haven't ordered our tickets yet as I had a problem with my credit card (missed my first payment  ) but I've got it sorted now and will order them today. I also need to book a hire car and everything will then be ready to go! Four weeks tomorrow I'll be on the plane and heading over :DB)

Yeah, Eurostar (train) tickets can vary a lot, depending on when you book. Still, the advantage is that a ticket London-Brussels is also valid for the connected journey to any station in Belgium. An alternative might be Eurolines (bus), which could be pretty cheap (but book timely; gets very crowded in vacation periods), but then you'd still have to pay for your train (or bus?) journey from Brussels or Antwerp to Hasselt.

My flight back home is on the Sunday 23rd, but its at 10:10AM flying from Zaventem airport, think its enough time to get to the airport in time, if i leave at say 6AM from the campsite?

the b-rail site says it takes about 1hr30mins with a change in Leuven.

First time Pukkelpop and I've got a few questions. I read this thread and half of the 2008 one but didn't see any answers to these...

-What are the food stalls like in the campsite? And how expensive are they?

-Is there a supermarket of some sort nearby to get standard food supplies?

-How much are drinks inside the arena? And round the campsite? I read that you can't bring bottles into the campsite, can you get plastic bottles of spirits and bring them in? How much is beer??

-Do they release set times prior to the festival starting?

Thanks for any help

Woo!

Booked all my stuff thanks for the advice guys

ended up going with eurostar, a bit more than I would have liked but I got a very small window in order to get back and recover in time for Reading festival... Not sure if i'll be able to back it up and do two in a row but theres one way to find out..

That sounds jokes about the stalls outside people's houses! I'm assuming the 250ml beers come with the standard European half cup of head?

Thanks for your reply

I managed to book Eurostar for £49 return! Considering that the ticket only costs £115, the price of travel and entry is costing me £20 less than the Reading tickets I'm about to sell.

Timetable is out

Dizzee and Passion Pit clash (as I had feared) is a reality

Edit: Lots of other clashes now I've started to look into things :) Having said that there will probably be quite a few changes between now and when it starts as there's lots of gaps and a few strange timings at the moment - Wilco are down to do a 90 minute set :)

I think the timetable fits in well for me at the momnet and not really that much time of not seeing any band, just enough to get food and drink

I can see maybe one more addition in the shelter and a few more on the Saturday. I've seen on rockblogs website that there are still some self confirmations that are not on the line up yet including And you'll know us from the trail of the dead, so they could fit into one of the gaps either in the Shelter or Marquee which would be good!
