The big picture

There's lots of thread's & moan's on here about the deposit scheme and payment date ,was it a clever marketing ploy, or good business sense . Consider the worry and financial commitment and poor ticket sales of 2008 due in some part to the wet 2007 and the start of the world down turn , the deposit system has ensured glasto's survival as the world's no 1 festival.

With most of the tickets sold and payed for the confidence of the organiser's that this years fest is going to be the best they've planed is apparent , and glasto like any other business is on a secure financial footing . You only have to see how many fests have been canceled or look nervous so far this year.

As for the cost its cheep for what you get , some people pay more for just 1 band for a few hrs , i canceled xmas to pay for mine lol and we have had 5 months since registration to save up about a £1 a day. So the big picture is M E had good sound predictive advice as to the late 2008-2009 financial criss , and has carried through the change with style and i hope doesn't announce head liners glasto is so much more than just bands . To quote Andrew Marr "glasto is a thoroughly British institution" and long may it continue , so bring on june

Indeed.

I was happy that it was easier to get tickets... been touch and go on a couple of occasions in some of the more recent years.

It'd be great to see the same arrangement again for next year...

In the context of various complaints by people due to line ups not being announced... it seems fair to me to allow people who know it's always gonna be a great time (and *want* to be there regardless of line-ups) the opportunity to get their tickets earlier. I'm not gonna start bashing any of the complainants, or getting into any of the arguments - it's just that there are many who are committed, and if they can secure tickets then it's in their interest *and* the interest of the festival's spirit. Plus, as mentioned, the festival's financial state...

Bravo! Everyone's a winner as far as I can see!!!

I popped online one afternoon, and brought my ticket is seconds.

It was bloody brilliant! Why anyone would complain about that (and to be fair ive not seen anyone doing so) is beyond me.

Im quite accustomed to sitting online pressing refresh for hours on end, just to get tickets. It was marvelous. I just hope not too many people catch on next year.

i think ts a great system for people who go to glastonbury because its glastonbury. I'm not complaining it has taken stress out of my life and means i'm already upgrading my glastonbury essentials on ebay.
