I went to a farm with my little one yesterday and the famer pointed out to me that the oak tree started to sprout leaves before the ash tree did. He said that was a good sign that we are in for a great summer. If the ash tree gets leaves first then we would be in for a horrible summer.

So all looking good and a farmer should know !!!! To be honest i would believe anything as long as its what i wanted to hear :-)

theres quite a bit of truth in this... i work with trees and in '07 and '08 ash trees started coming into leaf way before the oak trees did and we had two of the shittiest summers i can remember, the crows are also nesting very high up in the trees this year which is another sign of a good summer... and i spent Β£30 and most of sunday waterproofing my tent which practically guarantees a rain free glasto :D

Weather definitely goes in pairs.. 2005-2007 terrible, 2008 - 2009 good. Of course, this doesn't bode well for next year, but I'll invent a new theory when that time comes :P

My own unscientific method is as follows...

The last time we had a winter/spring similar to what we've experienced so far, was in 2005/06.

There was no Glasto in 2006, so the Summer may not stick in your memories...

...I do remember, however, being afraid to go outside, having seen people incinerate upon exposure to the ridiculously hot sun.

I'm not sure that'd be the best weather for Glastonbury, but at least it'd give us something else to moan about other than the rain and mud, etc... :)

I'm upping the stakes over 2003, excellent though that was, and holding out for a Glastonbury as good as 1995. Now THAT was a scorcher and a half ....

Those who remember 1989 (I wasn't there sadly) will say that it was even hotter than 1995, then. A repeat of that would be most welcome.

Those who dare to moan about the 'risk' of Glastonburey being 'too hot' or 'too dusty' or whatever, should be thrown compulsorily into a vat of cold mud of 2007 consistency and have a hose trained over their head for five days near continuously.

Fukk any talk of 'middle way', man. We need ultra dry ultra hot ultra sunny extremes.

You can shelter and protect yourself from the sun, but you can't sit down in the mud! ;)
